Is it wrong to be worried when Bachmann has to come back in at some point? Five year contract after all, he's going nowhere. Not to say he cannot improve, but his hot head temper will always over shadow his game.

I hope he doesn't come back in, our team seems so much more confident without him in the side. Defensively we have improved a lot as their appears to be trust between the defenders and Hamer, something sorely lacking when Bachmann was in goal. That being said after watching the extended highlights we didn't look too fantastic defensively yesterday!

Before that was 5-1 away Cardiff 22nd Feb 2019
    Before that A Fulham 5-0 5th Dec 2014
    A Leeds 10th Nov 2012 6-1
    A Millwall 18th Sept 2010 6-1

Maybe he'll get the call to disappear to Udinese.

Nice to have contenders this season. Last season I went for Dan Gosling and I'm not entirely sure if that was a joke or not.

I expect Hoedt and Sema to be in the mix. Martins was excellent when the rest of the team faltered but he's not going to play enough to get back in the race.

Some very, very nice football and a couple of excellent goals - Kayembe’s vision and weight of pass for Bayo was superb.

Looks like we’re starting to click. A few shrewd signings in January and we could well be pushing for the playoffs.

Ismael is doing a very good job.

Another brilliant team performance that got a win this time. This team really do believe they can do something this season, more so then the fans! but if we can keep these performance levels up in the next run of (very winnable) games then we might all believe.

Jamie Vardy. What a ****. But what if we look back at the the end of the season and identify him playing for a penalty, so getting Bachmann a second yellow, allowing Hamer to come in and be the catalyst for a successful season? Nah! your right, he's still, and always will be, a ****!

Perfect away day that will live long in the memory. It's not often you get to see a 2nd half like that, especially away from home.

With performances like yesterday, they would certainly have to be Shrewd signings to not upset the applecart and be an improvement (taking our likely limited spend) on what we have! We would I feel need to ship out some on loan Ngakia, Morris, Pollock, Healy, Bachman and replace with better so Andrews, Hammer can drop down! I can't see anything major happening

The 5 year contract also protects his value (i know it's not millions, but still). Is he still in the Austria national team set up? If he wants to go to the Euro's next summer he's got to be playing first team football. A January move could be his last chance.

They have to name a 55 man provisional squad this week I believe, then the final 27 man squad 2nd / 3rd January. Kayembe has been called up to the squad , but not played, the last few matches

Morris probably, Ngakia is recovering from an op but will be back in the squad in the new year, really don't want Healey to go out on loan as he approaches full fitness and confidence, Pollock possibly and it's anyone's guess what happens with the keeper position.

Irritatingly, I was only at two of those - the London ones. I shall be at Blackburn but I can’t help thinking I’ve chosen the wrong week to go up to Lancs. Still, I’ll accept a tight 3-0 win. ;)

Hmm, honestly, well seeing as you did ask, I think it's a little wrong, especially the day after yesterday. I don't think he's as horrific as some people like to make out and I don't think he deserves all the grief he gets. He's played hundreds of games most of which have not been overshadowed by his temper.

I don't really get the need to have hated boo boys on your own team. (not necessarily saying you are spouting hate). The same goes for Louza who may just be having a bad run of form for all sorts of reasons as opposed to being the villian some people make him out to be.

The thing is, he hasn't. It's natural to presume a 29 year old goalkeeper will have played hundreds of games but if we're talking about the ones that matter - first team appearances - it's about 150. And the vast majority have been for us, so we're uniquely placed to judge him. Plus the recent trend around his temper is stark - 8 bookings for dissent in his last 42 according to Andrew F in the WO. That'd be extraordinary for any player, let alone a goalkeeper. He's definitely earned his break from the team. Hopefully he uses the time well and comes back ready to focus on what matters.

If Bayo continues to play how he did yesterday, he'll walk it.

    Tall order, though.

Pro footballers are a strange lot and I'll never understand how weak minded so many of them are, I guess it's a mix of confidence and potentially confusing/negative managerial tactics?
I am no Louza fan and hate his lack of energy, but we did expect a lot of him when our midfield looked like a sieve and he looked rubbish. I half wonder if Val put him in now at 10 he might be really good?
Bayo looked like a one trick pony scoring the odd goal and now has the look of a decent forward. Kone has grown in character, etc etc...
I can only assume that we've finally got the right manager..?

I have long thought we have had a lot of really good 'keepers over the years, including recently( Gomes and Foster, who played for Brazil/ England). Consequently, it is easy to be over-critical. Bachmann has his perceived strengths (a good shot stopper) and weaknesses (a reluctance to deal with crosses appropriately and over-excitability, dodgy kicking). But I really don't think he represents a big problem; in the Championship he is adequate.
I would not have him as captain, not least because keeper is a difficult position to perform that role, and anyway I think he's bad at it. I believe a lot of his tantrum-throwing is because he has a poor understanding of how to deal with people, including refs, and he tries to compensate by going off the deep end.
Hamer has impressed (and surprised) me and I would keep him in the team at the moment. There are better keepers out there, although ours are good enough for the Championship, But there are several other positions where better or additional players should be sought as a priority.

But even in the Championship, it's clear, and has been for a long time, that Bachmann both helps sow panic and a lack of confidence in the defensive unit in general with his erratic behaviour and refusal to come off his line, and also contributes to how abysmal we have been in recent times when it comes to defending/conceding from corners and dead balls. That's not to mention the cost to the team of that inexplicably bad disciplinary record.

To say 'he's good enough for the Championship' is purely to say 'it's fine to concede a certain amount of extra goals that are down to the specific weaknesses of our goalkeeper in the Championship', and I can't say I agree with that sentiment, in this league or in any other, to be honest.
