Big game today. Relegation six pointer. Massive for Ismael. Defeat today and new contract or not, he should be sacked
Did anyone see the unusual bird circling the ground in the 15th minute? Didn't look like any bird I've seen before in the UK. On a lighter note this is the worst Watford team in living memory.
In a game where we didn't deserve the win, that pass and goal was exceptional from Koné and Asprilla. The Subs changed the game for us. Each of Koné, Asprilla, Chakvetadze and Sema. Hoedt was my MotM with Ngakia a worthy follow up to that. Koné offered a lot more than Dele-Bashiru did today and Ince, while solid with work rate was not up to snuff offensively today. We'll take the win and move on as it was a must win and despite us being off it, made it happen.
Awful dreadful game. So fortunate to have had the pen overturned and to have scored that scratty deflected trickle-in goal. Good to see King Ken back - he made a difference coming in for the sub-standard Lewis. Livermore is looking better and seems to be settling in. Raj - Rank. I would have kept Bayo on. I don't understand why that lanky lad who scored for us at the end of last season (name escapes me) doesn't at least get a go on the bench. Raj was absolutely dire I thought.
Wasn't there but could the bird have been a ring-necked parakeet - lots of them around the area now ?
Crap 65 mins, last 25 ok great goal, glad to see Aspria score we look so much better when we are attacking at speed with width , why don’t we do this all the time, also need to cross more and attack the cross, rather than run into the box (apart from Aspria). On pitch decision making needs to be worked on , a couple of ridiculous shots , and a couple of times we should have had a shot and didn’t , also need to be aware of where the opposition are struggling and put pressure on that area. Man of the match: the linesman Good(ish): Ngakia, Asprila , Martins, chack , kona , sema ok(ish): the defence (well they didn’t score) not sure about , Livermore, bayo, rajavic , ince Falling out of love with: louza , my steam provider swapping a lot of players I sort of get, everybody should be knackered so bring on fresh legs and we have some talent to swap around , but too many of the starters weren’t putting enough effort in
Terrible game of football between two very poor sides who are rightly at the other end of the spectrum compared to the other sides in this division. Great pass from Kone' and a wonderful finish from Asprilla. About time he found the back of the net. Sheff Wed should of lead a HT, they had a wonderful chance to score, and even a correctly ruled out penalty call second half. I thought on balance a draw might of been fair, but of course I will take the extra two points. We more or less did what Blackburn did to us, did f-all for the entire game then had one moment of quality that won us the game. Agree with @PowerJugs that the changes VI made were the correct ones, and it was pleasing to see King Ken back on the hallowed turf. Raj is just a waste of a squad number, did nothing when he came on and even stood two yards offside when the defender had a yard on him. Utterly useless. Decent result and a welcome third win of the season but it cannot mask how again inept we were for most of the game. First half was so boring you could of done something better for 45mins. Swansea will be much tougher test and gave a strong Leicester a very good game today despite losing. Last season's 0-4 mauling at the Vic on the same day of the week bring back horrible memories. Still enjoy tonight for once, and let's hope taking 4 points from six is the start of an upward direction. Then again, this is Watford.
Meh, aside from the last 25 mins we were awful. Subs made a difference. Dancing banana win rating of 1 out of 5.
Positives: - Asprillas goal - One of Ngakias best games for us imo - Kone > TDB - Livermore growing on me, so much crisper and calmer on the ball than Sierralta Negatives: - Literally everything else.
Conclusion: we’re slightly better than the worst team in the league. It was largely a depressing watch, but by the end we were looking much better than Wednesday. I think we looked fitter, which hasn’t been the case for a while and could be worth several points over the rest of the season.
I don’t think many of us will go to bed tonight feeling we’ve learnt much we didn’t know from when we woke up this morning. We remain a not very good side. Ismael remains a distinctly average coach. We are too slow and ponderous. We lack discipline at times (and have now lost Porteous for Tuesday). Rajovic might already have peaked for the season goals wise. Healey is out of favour. The crowd was quiet but nobody really protested about Pozzo. All stuff we knew or could have predicted this morning. On the plus side, we’ve seen again that Asprilla can be the little bit of gold dust in a mediocre squad, that Sema is a big-hearted willing player and that our home form may yet just about save us this year. I’d never refuse a win, and we’ve just about dodged the new manager bounce curse so that’s good, but I can’t say I will sleep tonight feeling very much more enlightened or pleasantly surprised by anything I’ve seen today. It still looks a long winter ahead, but nice to win again at least.
A win ! Tbf subs made a difference -Sema , Georgi and Asprilla. Well couldn’t be worse I guess - was pretty dire generally. Great decision by the assistant too .
