26 years old and has played in: Venezuela, England, Spain (3 times), Italy, Belgium, Bulgaria, Portugal and now probably Bosnia. Crazy. Had all the talent to be a great player but none of the mentality.
Genuinely crazy that this was him at 18. Raw but so much pace and power. The Granada front three that season of him, Success and El Arabi was a lot of fun. Never would've thought Success would have a better career than Peñaranda. Also a shame the Pozzos never got El Arabi over for us in the Premier League, quality forward and a right irritant for the opposition. Edit: apologies you have to click through to YouTube to watch.
Judging by the shirt he was wearing at the very start, it was written in the stars that he'd end up in Bulgaria!
Right after his very impressive spell with Granada, he went on loan to Udinese to sit on their bench for half a season, when keeping him in Spain would have helped him get a passport quicker and get him here (IIRC it was when the Pozzos sold up Granada, so by sending him to Udinese they were keeping him in house but he only ended up going to Málaga that January anyway). Judging by his general career trajectory, it probably wouldn't have helped much, but it certainly wouldn't have harmed his chances of making it as a top footballer!
