Welcome to Stoke City. The game doesn't matter or count for anything. Stoke could probably walk the goal into the net and score half a dozen. The main thing is that supporters actually do what's necessary on the day. That is to protest against the ownership. Be it inside and outside the stadium. Get the club into the mass media at least for a few days. See if Pozzo does squirm. When it's full time and the idiots start their listeless half hearted walk that mirrors their efforts this season to applaud the crowd greet them not with jeers or insults but stony silence. Turn your backs to them. Not a Poznan but show them how much you care about them as they care about us. There should be no announcements of the end of the season awards. If there are just drown them out. A few chants of We Want Elton, Give our club back, there's only one Graham Taylor would be excellent too. If you do visit Stoke make sure you visit the home of the Burslem Boy Josiah Wedgewood. Part of the Lunatick Society which included leading figures of the Midlands Enlightenment. Many of whom were religious dissenters possessed of critical faculties. William Small whose teachings on freedom, political discourse had a profound effect on a pupil namely Thomas Jefferson. A close friend of Josiah was the chemist Joseph Priestley who discovered numerous gases and the a century before Coulomb the inverse square law applied as with gravitation to electrical fields. Indeed Joseph's knowledge and Josiah's keen interest led to the wonderful glazes seen on the ceramics produced by Wedgewood. Josiahs daughter married Robert Darwin and was therefore a grandfather of Charles. His uncle Erasmus proposed an early theory of evolution and how all species are linked into a giant family tree before him. He was also a friend of this group of philosophers, scientists and engineers. To the north of Stoke Warrington was the Athens of the North for it's intellectual discourse while Brum was that of the Midlands. Oatcake a delicacy of the area is also the name of the Stoke forum. They have been very happy with Ben Wilmot this season although he has suffered a rather nasty back injury so will be unavailable. Home | Oatcake Fanzine (proboards.com) Another Burslem Boy:
Burslem is Port Vale country no? I know former perennial world darts champion and famous Vale fan Phil Taylor used to get paraded on the pitch at City only to get a bit of a stick, until he won it for the last time...16th time the charm or so they say!
Could be a contest for the most despondent set of fans ! Expect they have probably had this apathy and frustration at where the club is going for longer .
Rather than "Lunatick Society" I think you'll find it was the Lunar Society - so named because they met when there was a full moon, so they could see more easily for the journey home.
Certainly I'd back Jack (Bonham) to "do it again" [preferably his toe-curling goalkeeping Hornets masterclass v Leeds all those years ago]. "Fair play to the lad in turning things around in his career" as Chris Wilder will undoubtedly say in his cliché-ridden post-match analysis. "His second penalty save from Isma were a thing of beauty."
Two more games... just two more. We can do this, we just need to grit our teeth and get through it. Then we can do it all again with the same players on extended contracts next season.
All these years later, I still cannot blame him. Yes it was a terrible error at the worst possible time, but we had ten men and pushing up so much for a winner it was only going to happen as soon as we lost the ball with acres of space for Leeds to run into. It was a horrible day, but we would of never got the "Deeney" moment otherwise. Although going up automatically would of been prefered of course.
Well they are coming for a party it seems. https://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/308505/watford-away-end-season-party Not sure what "s**t allocation they have - presume its the same as everyone else?
Our fans should fold their arms when our lot walk out against Stoke - to silence and the sound of their own breath. But the happy clappers and kids who are desperate for shirts would never send that signal of disgust.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there is deafening canned applause on tap for the Pozzo facilitators at our awful club to deploy if there is an adverse reaction pre game/half time/full time. It’s not our club anymore.
Only answer is no one turns up. A lot harder to fill all the empty seats than drown out the supporters having their say.
Haven’t been since January I think. Got a season ticket and been to about 8 games. Obviously not renewing!
Ben Wilmot voted their POTS. Had a bad injury the other week - stretchered off and taken to hospital but was at their match yesterday apparently
That is genuinely the toughest question of the season. The only player that hasn't consistently let us down is Dan Gosling, and he's no longer at the club!
Harsh on Porteous and someone like Asprilla?. Porteous seems to be the fans favourite now like Kamara was last season . Let’s hope he doesn’t go the same way !
I can’t see anywhere to vote with a week left - maybe it has been rested to avoid fans voting for Hause or Hamer just to make the point that in truth no one deserves it
It'll go unmentioned along with a whole load of other stuff Pozzo wants to airbrushed from the season
He can't have woke up that day expecting to play the poor sod, it heartens me to see that he playing many levels above Dominic Poleon!
That’s nothing. We’ve already had a 2 season hiatus from football. Should be a hell of a celebration then !
Just seen he has actually made 27 appearances this season for Stoke, certainly a good move to run his Gillingham (80 appearances in 2 years) contract down and sign for them!
Gozzer’s still at the club though, just a free agent at the moment. It’s not beyond the realms of possibility that he signs for another year come the summer…
