Think we have to get the ball down and play, get our good footballers out there. Pedro & Louza in as 8’s, with HC behind them cleaning up. Sema, Araujo, Sarr. Smash them 4-0 and make a statement, COYH.
My eldest son - then aged 6 - attended his first match at Vicarage Road on March 4 2004 to watch Watford lose 0-1 to Preston in an absolutely dreadful game. He was hooked and has been a season ticket holder ever since. When we meet PNE on Saturday - 19 years to the day later - I foresee the same scoreline
I remember that one. Preston have always been a difficult match for us and I'm not entirely sure why. A short spell in L1 aside, since I've been a season ticket holder Preston are as mid-table Championship as you get. It's a shame that one of the finest clubs in history haven't seen the top division since the 50s.
I took my two kids to their first game that day as well! One was hooked and been a season ticket holder ever since and the other now hates football. Terrible game as I remember.
Update: 19 season tickets later she received a letter in February demanding proof that she was a student. Although at “early bird” pre season April/May she was still at university she is now working. The online application did not allow her to select a “full” adult for this season so she renewed as a student. After visiting the ticket office to “upgrade” to a full adult we were told that we would not have to pay the difference from previous games @£360, only the remaining 7 games. However they could not do this that day because it was a match day. I then get a call from the ticket office demanding she pays for the full season backdated or they will cancel the season ticket. She pays by DD monthly. She will cancel the DD payments if they do this and buy cheaper tickets or reluctantly right this season off. Considering the crap we have witnessed for the last three or four years you’d expect a little more appreciation from the jobsworth manager at the ticket office wouldn’t you? Anyway thanks for listening!
It seems that the root of the issue is that the website was too inflecible. Where have I experienced that before?
I'm going out on a limb but I think you might be a year out on this one. We lost 2-0 to Preston at home in March 2005, Lewington's last game before Boothroyd took over. I think your being very kind calling it dreadful! it was beyond dreadful from what i recall! mostly very poor / fading players (Helguson the obvious exception) who wouldn't get near today's team. Interestingly we played Preston at home a few months later as it was the opening game of the 5/6 season. Doyley was the only starter in both games I believe.
I know Sir Bob told us to not like Mondays but now Thursdays as well ? That only leaves 5 days of the week left
You're right - it was March 2003! The poor little bugger was only five when I put him through that! http://stats.football.co.uk/head_to_head/watford/vs/preston_north_end/index.shtml
It's always a shame when a punt doesn't come off but come on, she obviously wasn't eligible for a student ST and just needed to pick up the phone in April/May to sort it.
Wasn't that against Leeds, in Boothroyd first home game? They scored via a wicked deflection that looped over R Lee?
Sadly predictable and imagine that happening in GT's day? Lamentable communication and customer care. "Dear Mr Pozzo Blah blah, bloody blah Yours sincerely Bassett in a white wine sauce with shallots and green beans."
Andrew French @androofrench· 11m Ferreira and Ngakia training but may not be ready for tomorrow. Kamara hasn’t fully trained, should be ok for QPR. Dele-Bashiru and Kayembe won’t feature again this season, but Cleverley & Kalu will be back before end.
Update. Watfords last hope is not back in training, and is out for the season. Good job we have reached 50 points already
There’s a bloke I see near the front of the Rookery who has Dele-Bashiru as the name on the back of his Watford shirt. Talk about backing the wrong horse.
