And now got a small minority calling them and other fans snowflakes and hypocritical . All round a PR mess .
In fairness, every club in the Premier League will be playing them multiple times next season. Credit where credit is due; it was an incredibly principled stance from Scott and Gino to purposely tank the club in the name of protesting the Mags' ownership by refusing to meet them on the field of play.
Strange if that’s genuine - these days usually it’s only in printed publications where they use hyphens to continue a word on the next line.
They're both lying. Us because of the fuss caused and Qatar because it's embarrassing having Watford FC cancel a friendly with you.
Bloody hell, dont make me make that choice. A bent regime that likes to spin things to make themselves look good to appease the populace or the Qatar FA. Duxbury should be working in Government.
A Championship club playing Qatar is so controversial that the match is cancelled under severe pressure from fans. And yet the World Cup will still go ahead there regardless. Ridiculous however you look at it.
If Qatar weren’t hosting the World Cup no one would have said a word about playing a friendly against them. That’s why it’s virtue signalling.
So...from all the videos the club are releasing, who has not been spotted yet? I make it:- Masina, Sierralta, Pussetto, Penaranda, Rose, Fletcher (on loan until October). I don't recall seeing Kayembe yet? Obviously we all know Sarr, Dennis and Sissoko are going, Elliot, King, Foster, Cucho, Hernandez, Gray have already gone. Were left with: GK Maduka Okoye, Daniel Bachmann, Vincent Angelini, Pontus Dahlberg LWB/LB Hassane Kamara, James Morris, Ryan Andrews RWB/RB Kiko Femenia, Jeremy Ngakia CB Cristian Kabasele, Samir, Craig Cathcart, William Troost-Ekong, Mattie Pollock MF Edo Kayembe??, Imran Louza, Ken Sema, Dan Gosling, Tom Cleverley, Tom Dele-Bashiru, Domingos Quina, Yaser Asprilla, Adian Manning Wingers Samuel Kalu, Kwadwo Baah, Joseph Hungbo FWD Joao Pedro, Dapo Mebude, Shaq Forde......and possibly Ashley Fletcher (as NY Red Bulls do not want to take up their option on him)
I don't think Asprilla has been spotted there yet either? Andrews is right footed so ultimately likely to be more of a RWB, even if he does say he admires Joao Cancelo.
Andrews is very much a right-back, potentially a right wing-back. You may be correct hornetboy1 but from what I've seen of him, his left foot isn't too strong so I'd be surprised if he turned up on the left.
When I read his profile, it said he can play left back or right back, so I placed him in this position. I suspect we won't use him in either to be fair.
I must admit, I've stopped reading every article these days so could easily miss it being mentioned him being able to play on either side. Before converting to a defender he was an attacker (non-specified position) so a wing-back could be in his armoury. As you say though, the likelihood he's used at all is very slim.
Has anyone seen Yaser Asprilla in the videos? I remember reading somewhere (but I have forgotten where) that Asprilla is due to only arrive on 1st July, which will be the reason that he may not yet have appeared in any training videos. I think that other members of the forum have also previously mentioned this arrival date.
Must admit not sure where the club get the idea its an "excellent squad" - for I presume they mean a promotion push. Lack of cover in many areas relying on young players to come good.
Obviously the font line needs bodies. You are only as good as your forward line. If you want promotion, you can do it with a solid squad but you need quality up front in order to score the goals in tight games. I think that’s what Watford are going to rely on this season. Being solid and I can see we should be fairly robust defensively. We’ll be extremely lucky if Louza is available throughout the entire season though. If he doesn’t play we look very mid-table in this area. The same with the wing backs. First choice is excellent, probably the best we’ll see in the Championship next season, but I’m not sure we have the quality backing that up. Keeper should be ok. Hopefully Okoye is the real deal, and Bachmann is capable at Champ level (if he stays of course). The encouraging thing is, we are looking at forward players and more than one. If we signed two from the following:-Davis/Archer/Armstrong/Joao/Piroe, I think we’ll do well. Maybe not top two, but certainly top six.
We need signings fairly urgently. That current squad is dreadful. Even Ucko is getting nervous on Twitter.
