2/3s of Brits don't believe Johnson is genuinely sorry for breaking lockdown rules according to a YouGov poll: He seems to be struggling to fool the public this time.
Johnson has claimed 9 times in parliament that there are now more people in work than there were before the pandemic. It's a lie. There are 588,000 fewer people in work. He's been told this is a lie several times. Yet he keeps repeating it, including again today. https://twitter.com/FullFact/status/1516785004465983489?t=cJR03Y7s0nTTBxNurqJxuA&s=19 Liars gotta lie.
41% of Tory viewers think he's genuinely sorry? If love to know who they are, I've got a bridge to sell
This goes beyond partygate. Another YouGov poll shows that the public believe that the current government are performing badly across the board (except for defence and terrorism):
You do have to give them credit for their record on terrorism to be fair. Not allowing terrorists and potential targets to leave their homes was a genius move.
Not to mention getting them stuck in multi-mile tailbacks while trying to sneak into the country in the first place.
This is an interesting Johnson quote. Sums him up and perfectly embodies the damage he causes to those around him.
I remember when I was into the whole Brexit malarky responding to his tweets encouraging him to embrace his baldness and that there is nothing to be ashamed about in being a bald manlike myself, he never replied despite my numerous attempts to help the guy out of his mental cage. What kind of people vote for this odious little toad who has done nothing to deserve the position he is in? Baffled.
Dismal. This Government is nothing without enemies. But seriously, what kind of **** cares whether other people work at home or not? If they get their work done then good for them not adding to London’s pollution and being there when the kids come home. What’s not to like? And not forgetting that some staff will be vulnerable to the huge rates of Covid going around at present. Why should they come in if they can work at home?
A lot of pressure comes from Tory donors who have investments in commercial properties and businesses that rely on the money workers spend whilst traveling to and from work as well as on lunches. They don't want the demand for office space to drop off. As always, it has absolutely nothing to do with the wellbeing of employees or even what is more efficient and productive for the businesses concerned. Or the potential environment benefits in reducing travel.
When Johnson's defenestration takes place (I now believe it is when, not if) it's going to be so satisfying to see Rees-Mogg, Patel, Dorries, Truss, Raab, Sunak, et al. on the back benches. Surely, a new PM will only keep a handful of the current cabinet? I hope Patel gets treated with the same contempt that she shows to members of her own party who fail to agree with her "policies". Again this week she referred to Theresa May as "the right honourable lady" it's a very small point, but it is truly pathetic....
They are called "Conservatives" for a reason. Any change to the status quo is a threat - until they have worked out how to monetise it.........
Truss is the current bookies favourite. She is probably the only person in parliament (actually in the world!) who is likely to be even worse than Johnson. Rumours are that "influential" and "leading" Tories are favouring Jeremy Hunt, with a challenge as soon as May (if the local elections are a Tory disaster). Tom Tugendhat is a possible "untainted" outsider. The field is pretty sparse though and it's bound to open old wounds, especially on Brexit. It could get very nasty and that's why so many Tory MPs prefer to sit on their hands.
Many , many industries have outsourced their work to countries who will make a branded polo shirt or whatever using cheaper labour. If you can do your work from home using a computer then eventually this will be outsourced as anyone can use a computer these days and big business cares not one jot about ethics . Why pay someone 30-50k when they can pay someone a fraction of that ? .
Why haven't they already then? The Internet isn't new. Secure VPNs to enable access to work servers aren't new. Remote working isn't new. Surely these immoral big businesses would have jumped on this en masse 10-15 years ago if it was actually viable as a business model?
You never had a call from a phone centre outside the UK ? Wow ! WFH ? Carry on BAM . Don't start moaning when your job goes tho . BTW I never use the automated check out at Tesco et al ? Why? Because that is someones job . As sure as eggs is eggs plenty of "be nicers" use these without caring one iota . I am old school trade union. Gotta contrary opinion ? Bring it on .
The call centre outsourcing trend died a death around the time of the dot com bubble didn’t it? Loads of companies soon reversed those moves when customers made it clear they didn’t like it. Some have persevered but they’re outliers really. We shop at Lidl so don’t often see the posh self-service tills. I enjoy the challenge of having my groceries fired at me cannon-like into a ridiculous small space by a human being. When I do venture into a big supermarket chain it seems all the people who used to sit on tills are now pushing round home shopping carts. It’s difficult to find reliable numbers online but it doesn’t seem like Tesco’s employee figures have dropped dramatically since the advent of self-service tills? If my job goes it’ll be because of Tory cuts, not because of my job being moved abroad, given I suck from the public sector teat. My opinion though is some form of hybrid working is the way forward. The idea of being in the office for the sake of being in and being seen every day is kaput. It won’t come back, no matter how much Moggy and the commercial landlord class try to wish it were so. Oh and the new school trade unions love it. They’d be in favour of staying home forever if the noises I hear are right. You’ll have to have a word with them…
You are talking absolute ******** just to meet your political dogma. Well done . Let me enlighten you . For every self service til at tesco. The human budget is cut . People like you are either ignorant or don't care. Which one are you ? Please be the ignorant cos the "I don't care " mob are unforgivable.
Which bit is ********? What's my political dogma? I could accuse you of the exact same thing. Feel free to provide some supporting evidence with your attempts at enlightenment.
All of it . Which part of your shyite is anything other than modern day nuvuea left wing woke ******** ?
Completely predictable 'woke' in the bagging area! Not sure you've a clue what any of the words you just said mean, because they have no relevance to this little chat. But whatever.
