Doesn't matter what team we play ,which ever formation we use every game its the way we lose, never seen a watford team play as a bunch of individuals like this season that when they lose the ball there's a lack of effort from some to try and get it back , individual errors and bad decision making both ends of the pitch it's like watching schoolboys it's embarrassing
It’s as if Pozzo and Duxbury restricting our transfers to Mogi Bayat associated clients and free transfers has had a negative outcome for us. Best scouting network in the world
I wouldn't be surprised if we're paying some of Fletcher's wages to play in America and even less surprised if we're somehow paying Tufan still.
All three coaches have been sh*t overall, with few bright sparks. I actually think that that mini run of games with Ranieri, in which we beat Everton and Man Utd, and played decently against Leicester and Chelsea (not sure if I'm missing a match or two from that run, there may have been more) was the only period where we had some semblance of a decent game plan. Why we stopped with the high press tactic, I'll never know.
Definitely not the aim, like I said I don’t think Pep or Klopp keeps us up but I think it’s interesting Xisco’s “awful” was a 1-1 draw against Newcastle and a 1-0 defeat to Leeds with arguably worse players available to him. Now we get hit for 3 or 4 regularly under a coach who’s meant to be keeping us tight and organised as is his modus operandi. Weird.
Now, I'm not for one second suggesting that Xisco is actually a good manager (his time at Huesca is testament to that), or that he'd be my preferred option (I'd drop everything to get Diego Martinez in, or failing that, a promising EFL manager), but at least he had the potential to maybe become a decent manager down the line if he had the chance to learn on the job
I don't see it. Certainly not with us. Xisco looked and acted like a schoolboy who had won a prize. He never had the persona to be a top coach..
After spending the afternoon in the Rookery, I can answer that I don’t think as many as you believe. There was that handbags incident over in the 1881 ‘area’ but most people seemed to think that it was a Leeds fan rather than anything else. The fans were largely lethargic and uninterested, one guy near me looked like he was asleep for at least part of the second half and a large amount of fans started leaving the moment the second goal went in. There was a bit of drumming and sporadic chanting but not once did the entire stand chant as a group - a very weird state of affairs. But as someone who normally sits in the Family Stand, it confirms what I’d been saying in the match threads of the games I have gone to that the 1881 are virtually silent after about 10/15 minutes whatever happens. I missed the third goal as I was looking around the stand to see if anyone actually cared and beyond a couple of people shouting ‘**** off Gino/Duxbury’, most people just picked up their supermarket carrier bags and left. Something weird happened right near the end though, two adults suddenly stood on either side of the stand and started waving those huge 1881 flags. Felt very deliberate. Just the two of them. Can’t really put my finger on what it was about but it was odd. Also, as the final whistle came. Some of the grown ups that were left rushed to the front of the stand and were desperately signalling to the players to give them their shirt. Whilst applauding them. It’s a sad state of affairs yet not wholly shocking. One last thing and I can’t stop thinking about it, but over in the EJ stand, people were running down to the side of the advertising board to take selfies with Kalvin Phillips in the background as he was warming up as a sub. So many were doing it at one point that the stewards had to force people back to their seats. Again, mostly adults. I truly hope they were Leeds fans but I’m not convinced. Full time whistle was met with a few sporadic boos and one guy continuing with his shouting at the executive but on the most part, people just shuffled away without being particularly bothered.
Ranieri looked to have us sorted, then we had the Brentford game and the sudden abandonment of the high press that had looked so good. I am sure one day we will find our why, but I'm sure it was either players kicked off about work rate or owners kicked off about it not being their preferred method.
Some refreshing transparency from someone within the club. The Stability and their Committee Stooges could learn a thing or two…
That reminds me of that dreadful afternoon against Liverpool earlier in the season. After the final whistle, at least a hundred people in the Lower GT were filming the Liverpool players going over to applaud their fans in the VR end. That implies to me that either there were hordes of away fans in the home end, or that our own fans are such cucks that they go giddy at the prospect of a few famous internationals sticking 5 past us and want to document it for posterity. Either way, hugely depressing.
Oh there was also the time in the second half right after Pedro’s wild shot where he blatantly ignore Dennis, where Sarr had his arms out asking Kucka why the ball hadn’t got to him. Kucka then pointed at him in a “don’t you start on me” fashion and they nearly squared up before the referee intervened. Absolutely embarrassing.
Bore off. Show it on the pitch. Relegation would probably suit him, cheaper our asking price more suitors for him.
Already seen Brentford fans saying how it easy it was to long on and get tickets in the home ends for next week..
I take my nephew who is 13 he would never do that to opposition players. He's more likely to throw some abuse their way. Well proud who needs Salah as an idol when you got Cleverley
Banned even from training, though, via diktat from on high. I'd venture that's near enough to count as 'gone'.
To be fair Danny Rose got robbed so many times on the pitch that day they were probably just recording the perpetrators for future police evidence.
We should get some signs for next week. Pick any player. Example: "Foster - please can I have your shirt coz you aren't fit to wear it"
We will notice that next season in certain areas of the ground . Probably why they cut season tickets so much .
Lessons clearly weren’t learnt from our last relegation, and the usually positive upbeat me has no doubts that things won’t change next season either. Leopards don’t change their spots. It will be another season of chaos, scattergun transfers and coaching changes. Unless the current people in charge depart, I really don’t think things will ever change. Sometimes we get lucky, other times such as now it’s just really awful to watch it all unfold.
Similar in essence to their second goal where we had a throw in on the edge of those box, thread passes later it’s heading back to Foster, another mistake, another goal.
We still should have drawn 1-1 away at Leeds under Xisco though, which is preferable to losing 3-0 at home. We shafted him by giving him Kucka, Tufan, and no decent CBs or LBs to work with.
