Yes, that's what I'll remember most when looking back on this era 20 years from now. Not the two cup semi finals, or the cup final, or the two promotions, or the multiple wins over Liverpool, Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal, or our highest top flight finish since the 80s. Above all else, I'll remember that time Luton had a good run of results in the league below us and we got relegated.
Think of the reaction next season if we let a late lead slip to the team bottom of the table .. And you think it’s bad this season .
I still get notifications from the closet weirdos on my ignore list who hate me so much for being right about absolutely everything that they still deserve to see their remaining semblance of hope vaporized. Relegation will be a mere hors d'oeuvre. There's a good decade of **** times ahead and I'm gonna be on here revelling in all of it.
How on earth would putting money into this ****yn circus be an 'investment' to anyone but the Sinaloa cartel trying to launder some of their immense cocaine proceeds?
I'll remember how at every high point, our team somehow clutched a new low, always finding a way to repay the fans with utter cowardice in the face of any possible joy.
Dream on. There are 20 more desirable and attractive clubs to anyone who's got the 500m we need to drag us outta the mire.
Why do you ignore the financial disaster the Pozzos have put us in? I’ll be honest I don’t care about what Luton do. But you will remember a cup semi final win when they take us into financial oblivion? Do you realise the damage they have done?
I'll wait to see the effects of this year's PL money, and the sales of Sarr/Dennis/JP before getting too concerned about us being AFC Watford 3 years from now. If we're still dooooomed after that, and things become worse than Bassini's days then I'll gladly reassess then. And yes, I'll remember the Semi Final win fondly for years and years to come.
Brilliant. Accounts come out and it’s just a “lol” doooomed. Pretty pointless discussing it with you. I obviously don’t want disaster but if you will just clap into the inferno until it actually happens then not much point in us discussing further. Let’s hope I’m wrong.
Sorry, the 'doooomed' wasn't supposed to be mocking those worried about the situation. I'm worried too. I just don't think it's a foregone conclusion (yet) that we're completely ****ed, even if we do go down, and don't come straight back up.
Can't see it happening. Who would want to buy a minority share in us at a time when our value is at it's lowest ? Pozzo would have to accept a really low price for a % of the shares, or someone would have to pay top dollar for what could end up being worth very little.
I was never a COG. Some just paint anyone who isn't 100% anti-Pozzo with that brush. I'm all for balance. More negatives than positives atm of course.
I'm not out to start a fight so just read this as my opinion. I think your desire to continually portray yourself as a balanced poster in relation to Pozzo is a complete fabrication on your part. I would say you are the Pozzo rebuttal commander in chief over a period of years. As I say, just my opinion so feel free to ignore it
Sure. Likewise I don't want to start one of those real mega-fights we used to have . But I do see myself as balanced as evidenced by my post the other day. Good and bad but more bad than good recently. Maybe I'm "balanced but prepared to give the benefit of doubt", whereas you're "balanced but reluctant to give the benefit of any doubt" ? I do genuinely see you as being one of the more "open-minded of the negative posters" these days based on what you post.
What has us having 10 years of Premier League money got to do with the success of that lot up the road
Our value has little to do with us and more to do with the fact that there are only so many PL/upper Championship sides into which an investment can be made. But I certainly recognise your point that the Pozzos would have to accept a lower price than what they’ve been offered previously.
Our value as a champ side is worth considerably less than as a prem side. No guarantee that investing in a champ side gets you into the prem (see Derby, NF, Reading etc), esp with the strict champ finance rules.
Yes but parachute payments are creating a growing divide between the relegated sides and the rest of the division as we’ve seen the last few seasons. We’re seeing a growing batch of sides that financially and competitively lie between the two divisions (us, Norwich, Fulham, Bournemouth etc). So our valuation would be somewhere between a Southampton and a Millwall and probably slightly closer to the former. We’re probably the 18-25th most valuable club in the country even with Pozzo mismanagement and how many of the top 17-24 are currently for sale/seeking investment? Very few. Whereas there appear to be a lot of very wealthy people who want stuff to throw money at.
