I disagree that Dennis hasn’t been playing well, although not as clinical as he was earlier in the season, but either way I’m pleased Hodgson doesn’t feel the need to pamper to any individual. King and Dennis on the bench, glad for Pedro and Cucho.
For the goal, Kiko at fault upto the point the cross was made, then Foster made the mistake. Generally I am happy with our play, we just not to cut out the times we give the ball away.
Kucka is a complete liability when he plays like he did today. He's a decent player at times but when he's **** he is absolutely **** and costs us goals.
Thought thats as good as it gets really away at anfield. Some thoughts; Leeds and brentford will give us tougher matches but have less quality. The delivery for the 1st was excellent. Fizzed onto the spot jota could get onto it. Penalty? For me the forward has his hands on Kucka, it has to be holding by the defender only or how else can you call it either way?
Great performance today, held our own away form home against the best team in the league Play like that in our remaining home games against the teams around us and we’ll stay up comfortably … *loses 3-0 to Leeds*
I thought he did well for an hour, but then his legs go and he hasn’t worked out that he can’t do what he does at that point and makes those massive mistakes. What I don’t understand is surely the club have data on when players performances drop like that? So why isn’t Roy told “you have to sub him after an hour if you are going to start him”. Good game overall and thought the team played well. Better than I was expecting.
So proud tonight. Every man gave their all. Relegation or not, we can look back on this game as the one where we defiantly stood tall against the big boys and said ‘we will be back to lose again!’
Hot headed the word? Sounds like a ok performance generally but as we all know errors will cost as at both ends.
Went to the best team in the world, stood toe to toe with them for 90 minutes and only beaten by a cheating ref. Can't ask for more than that from are lads. Saw enough today to convince me we are staying up
Unlucky I guess, glad we lost 2-0 though as a 1-0 would have been quite gut wrenching after the performance the lads put in. We are long overdue some performances at home and I am hoping the law of averages works in our favour for the rest of the season in that regard.
Some thoughts: Our defence is appaling. Kucka should either come in as a sub, start but taken off after 60 mins or not play at all. Sarr, Dennis and Sissoko very poor. Cucho always gives his all. Kamara is a massive improvement on Masina/Rose.
And that’s the whole season summed up beautifully. Disciplined performance today with most of the team concentrating for the whole 90, fashioned some chances against a top side and had them worried for a bit. Yet next week we just know they won’t turn up, the intensity will be dialled down completely and we’ll be meek and surrender to Weeds.
Anger aside with kucha (and Roy for not taking him off), the performance was better than I had thought it would be, and we were not humiliated. Thought our defence was solid overall, but were not tuned in for the first goal. We had a few chances too. The trick now is to see if we can get any sort of performance from this group at home matches. Almost certain to be relegated, but let’s go down fighting.
People will criticise Kucka but I thought the pen was harsh given Jota was also grabbing the back of his shirt. He could have done better for his chance as well but it's not one you'd expect to score every time. Really the chance of the match was for Joao Pedro. It was absolutely glorious with half the goal to slot the ball in to. At this level you have to score that. Decent performance from us again overall, continuing where we left off with Southampton. If we can keep that up we're not completely out of it. We'll of course need to translate those types of away performances in to our home ones though, which we've not been able to do yet. Good that our goal difference didn't take a complete hammering either. One other thing - Cleverley looks done at this level. He shouldn't be coming on as a sub for anyone, even Kucka who was alright until the pen.
Better than expected maybe and decent performance at times. Unfortunate lapses in concentration or silly play cost us again. Time to cheer on Southampton, West Ham and Chelsea (not often we do that for the last 2!)
It took us best part of 10 mins to bring 3 subs on who promptly made us worse. Kucka (don't care how he spells it) is a c**t. Ball already cleared when he does his rugby tackle and we are still 1 down with 6 or 7 minutes to play. Brain dead. Don't get me started on Cleverley's quick free kick. C**t.
Don’t think it was actually that bad, struggled to lay blame at Roy’s door until the Louza sub. Thought the difference between Pedro & Cucho’s enthusiasm vs King & Dennis’ lethargic performance was night and day. The latter two have the quality but the work rate and desire is severely lacking. Individual errors from old players on a downward trajectory cost us yet again but sadly given the gulf in the Premier League, they were always going to score somehow.
Generally a decent performance, with some stupid mistakes letting us down. Seems like the default Watford position these days. Two points though: why does Roy insist on subbing Louza when everybody knows Kucka falls off a cliff after an hour? And yes, Kucka pulled Jota down but it was absolutely nowhere near the ball, which was comfortably cleared by Kamara (I think?)... A penalty seems a bit disproportionate. Oh, and Kamara MOTM. He made Salah look average.
Sum of are fans think we should be getting Messi in and being good enough to beat liverpool. Fact is, the Pozzos have cut their cloth and after relegation last time, have been very responsible financially. We have a choice, either we go bankrupt or we have a **** team. Fans need too chose.
Exactly, you don’t pay off a quarter of a billions debt by having a team capable of staying in the EPL. What are these fans on???11
Also, we’ve had a habit of playing well against good teams and losing, knowing that level of performance in the more winnable games will give us a good chance. Then we completely capitulate in the winnable games. That can’t happen against Leeds, Brentford AND Everton. Let’s see.
Meh. Groundhog Day. A loss and the likes of Kucka being nowhere near good enough. What's new. The season is over. Who cares.
Despite the intended satire, and accepting it's GP's fault we have arrived at this pass, that is actually the choice we are currently facing!
I thought we played well Liverpool only had three shots on target and we created chances. We looked organised and had a plan which is an improvement on other performances at Anfield and the home fixture this season. People will be quick to suggest that Liverpool were not great but we made it difficult for them not allowing them space and having a coherent unit and shape. I am not sure we will have enough to stay up but we have a small chance and we don't look that **** anymore.
I think Kucka has a functional, albeit limited, reason for being in our team. Any side (/manager) who plays him for more than 50 minutes though thoroughly deserves to get relegated.
Exactly. Spending money on agents fees and wingers who aren't good enough to play is just part and parcel of being a club on the brink.
