I’m sorry I see Kamara , Sissoko and Dennis in the starting line up that are premiership quality . And that’s it . This is excruciating . I would have gone for Nuno and given him the championship as well . If the scum go up and we go down , I won’t be there . Covid restrictions over , get on a plane to somewhere sunny and actually Enjooooooytheeeegameeee. Because right now we are allllllmuggsssssbuyingggggahomophobicccccccracisttttttaferarrriiiiii

Foster - Who still thinks Bachmann should be our 1st choice GK :D Because Ben yet again has shown you all why he is still our No1 tonight.
Kiko - Did OK, but why does he take the corners, because surely someone in our team should be able to take a reasonable set piece and it aint him.
Cathcart - Yet again a decent steady performance, detractors please take note.
Samir - Looking more and more like a great buy, he had Antonio in his back pocket all night.
Kamara - What can I say he is looking great and was probably our MOTM tonight.
Kucka - Knock him if you want, but he has done an OK job for the last two games.
Kayembe - Is doing OK, but sometimes goes missing and becomes a little anonymous.
Sissoko - I am becoming a little disillusioned by him, he really must improve on his passing and shooting as both are wayward at present.
Cleverly - Better tonight, but he probably should be coming off the bench and not starting.
Dennis - Looked sharper tonight, but still seems to be unable to find his shooting boots, he really needs to find them soon me thinks.
King - Duracell Bunny yet again, loads of energy but not a lot else, so much like Andre Gray IMO.
Pedro; Ngakia and Louza - None of them made much of an impact, maybe Cucho might have been a better shout?

All in all I thought we were unlucky to lose, but there again we probably did not deserve to win either. A point would probably have been a fair outcome.

Of course! Football is really easy if you don't factor in the opposition.

I'm as fed up as the rest of us but to accuse Cleverley of ball watching for the goal is mental. He's the closest player to the passer! He then sprints (albeit that's not very fast these days) to try to make up the ground on Bowen as he is literally the only player who senses the danger. The central defenders back off and Cleverley who was in front of Kayembe when the ball was played, ends up about fifteen yards further back than him because Kayembe didn't react at all.

By all means criticise other parts of his game but Cleverley is the one player actively trying to stop that goal.

There's a lot of people assuming that thinking we're going down and being negative at games are the same thing, but they aren't.

I think we look dreadful, devoid of creativity, able to either defend or attack in a game, but not both. We will 100% go down with probably less points than 1999/00. It's an I'll thought out, dice roll of a season. But I sang tonight, didn't get on the team's back and desperately hoped we'd win.

I don't need to be told to get behind the team, because I always do, but we're just ****.

    Thoughts on the game.

    Please start Pedro.
Please do not start Kucka, especially on the wing, he runs like he has a "muscle imbalance".
    Why did Ngakia come on?
F**k Zouma. Hope he treads barefooted on a plug his cat moved into the middle of the floor.

That’s got nothing to do with what the post said though? You can do all the things RS2 suggested against 1970 Brazil, let alone West Ham from tonight?

What the opposition do, should not affect your overt hunger and desire to win. If they are better and you tried your heart out, fair enough. The argument about tonight stems from the fact that both sides of that coin are debatable.

    I agree with HB1.
Thought Watford did well defensively in the main.
being defensively sound is woys MO, so in that respect he's already making his mark.
And being defensively sound is what will be key to keeping us up.

I thought he had a pretty decent game first half considering who we were up against for reasons Steve Leo Beleck gave in his first paragraph here. Admittedly he faded somewhat in the second, but the fact is in two games where he's almost universally been considered awful he provided two of our few moments of threat.

The fact is, Cleverley is in his twelfth season of Premier League football, having played fairly regularly for two seasons for a title-chasing side and two for two top seven sides, and had 13 England caps. Admittedly much of that was a long time ago, but you don't already become a "terrible, terrible player" (I know you didn't say that) at just 32 with that on your CV and that much experience at the top level. The question is has he been used as effectively as he could be at the top level while playing for us? I don't think so, at least not consistently; Silva was probably the manager who got the most out of him before he lost the plot.

And (and this isn't addressed to anyone in particular) I get the feeling that many are criticising the lateness of the subs with the benefit of hindsight - 13 minutes is plenty of time to get something from a game when you're only 1-0 down, and at the time I thought it was the right mix of attacking and defensive solidity (even if I don't rate Ngakia as much as some).

I take your argument seriously - but just know I find it hard when you call him ‘Woy’.

And winning games will be key to keeping us up more than anything. I say that without tonight’s game in mind.

But there is little point in making us hard to score against if we find it equally hard to score at the other end - and that’s the way the trend is going. We could draw every remaining game 0-0 and we will go down.

Getting Sarr back and being able to utilise him enough and properly feels massive.

I have read comments about how bad West Ham away is as an experience but I honestly had no idea it would be THAT bad. That is the most devoid, soulless, cringeworthy experience I have ever had to endure watching us play. Airport style security to get in, paper cups because they don't trust you with a plastic bottle with the top taken off before walking out to a floodlight & flames display as they play a song about bubbles with what sounded like 200 rats singing along whilst bubble machines desperately try and force some atmosphere. All game, I literally mean all game the only noise you could hear from the home end was from about 20 chavs from Essex clambering over each other to give it large and shout obscenities to 14 year old Watford fans. I mean don't get me wrong there were plenty of kids in the away end giving the salutes back but these men were literally in their 40s. Embarrassing doesn't even cover it. Never seen anything so cringeworthy at football, we were literally laughing at them all night. Not the mention the 100ft void between the upper and lower tier, completely disbanding any attempts to get something going from the away end. Honestly, if this is the Premier League experience that everyone seems so desperate to cling onto then I'm out, I want no more part in this. Modern football is dead. Even the way the game is played is boring beyond belief. It is so methodical, there is little enthusiasm to get the ball forward the whole mentality is must not lose. I would rather see us in the Championship, at least there would be half a chance of a proper away day like Barnsley.

About the game - we will go down there is no question, if you can't put a dreadful West Ham to the sword in the first half then you won't get far. We looked tidy in the first half and should have taken the lead on numerous occasions but with 4 CMs across the midfield you aren't going to create much. Second half we never really left the dressing room and conceded a terrible goal. Gave far too much space which allowed a shot to get away albeit an unlucky deflection. Once we went down our body language just descended and we never even looked like fighting back. We are a team defeated.

Anyway that's it for me now this season, bar Villa at home it has been appalling following us this season. Miserable, uninspiring, depressing, grim, spineless. Take your pick. Had much more fun following my local non league side around, everything and I literally mean everything is better about it. The sooner we are down and out of this league the better.

Jesus wept, they can attract the likes of kieron Trippier already, spunking 20 odd million on Wood!

How can you possibly compare their situation to ours ?

Furthermore no offence to anyone who has died, missing, got cancer / AIDS / been shot by the police in a different continent or cats that have been mistreated but do we genuinely need some form of tribute at every single game?

By the time we have clapped for the NHS, knelt down on one knee, clambered back up to applaud for 3 minutes for a barn owl found dead that was spotted flying within the vicinity of the stadium last year I often forget the reasons why we gather round the stadium. Get on with the game!

Ball watching to me. Kayembe had closed off the passing lane to Bowen and Cleverley just jogs next to him rather than pressing. Him just watching the ball opens up the space

I dread to think where the coach/ manager will come from next season. The owners will want to get back to the PL ASAP so feel they won’t chose a new upcoming manager as it’s too risky. I’m worried that we’ll probably have about 3 different ones and are starting to run out of options.

I'm sorry, this is nonsense. Bowen has come from their right hand side into the centre of the pitch from behind Kayembe and none of our players have noticed him. If Cleverley had pressed straightaway, the ball would've just been played to the West Ham player that Kucka hasn't bothered tracking - Cleverley actually scans over his right hand shoulder and sees him there, he's trying to stop that ball being played so he certainly can't be accused of ball watching. If anything, the ball to Bowen wasn't on until Kayembe moves because he thinks it's going out wide to be played to Antonio in the channel.

The biggest issue with that goal by far is that Bowen receives the ball and both of our centre backs decide to back off at high speed towards our own area, despite having literally no-one to mark between them.

Obviously, if we actually had a single defensive midfielder in the whole squad, the position that Bowen gets into is exactly where you'd expect them to be screening the back four but that's by the by.

Not once did Cleverley see Bowen, or scan over his shoulder for that matter; only thing he does is look at Fornals in which Kiko has covered. Also, nobody said press him straight away, he just watched the ball

Come on mate, seriously? '13 minutes is plenty to get something from a game'?

Even if that is true - why only give them that?

Please, tell me why it makes sense when you need to change a game to give an entire line change of subs basically as little time as possible - or, indeed, just significantly less time than they could otherwise have had? Not to mention the effect that tiredness has on so many of our geriatric players well before that, regardless of how long the subs need to make an impact (or, indeed, not, as the case ended up being this evening).

They're not all utterly shyte but more is than isn't hence why we're going down.

    Foster
    Kamara
    Cathcart (Medium shyte)
    Samir
    Femenia (Sometimes)

    Sissoko
    Louza (Maybe who knows)
    Kayembe (**** knows for sure)

    Sarr
    Dennis
    Pedro

That would POSSIBLY just about be good enough to see us come 17th. Problem is, we don't have a midfielder creative enough to allow Sissoko to totally sit back and do what he does, we don't have a striker good enough to take some pressure of Dennis & Sarr playing out their skins. We don't have a centre back far better than his partner covering for his deficiencies. Femenia only really looks great with Sarr in front of him, other than that he's okay.

There's just too many question marks or caveats with this playing squad. Not a single manager's fault, all blame lies at the door of Duxbury, Gino and whoever it is now that's in charge of recruitment, Girraldi? Giarretti? That other weird dude we seemed to bring in for a bit before he disappeared off the face of the earth. Complete shambles.

  35. wfcSinatra

    wfcSinatra Predictor Choker 14/15

And just to follow up, that is the case at most clubs, people saying the squad is shyte isn't talking about every individual, just together as pieces.

We all said Burnley are total rubbish, I'd take Pope or Cornet in a heartbeat. McNeil, Mee and Tarkowski are probably better than what we have too.

Max Aarons at Norwich is decent as is that DM they have. Ultimately, all three of us have more dross than good and that is the formula for relegation.
