So does anyone think Dahlberg may get a squad place next season? Especially if we do end up getting relegated - I can certainly see Bachmann going in the summer, Foster could be off too (age is certainly not on his side anymore). I know we signed that other new keeper recently, but perhaps Dahlberg will struggle in the Premiership. Foster is the only PL level keeper we have on the books - so if we do stay up this season the Summer transfer in GK's for us could be interesting.
I think you are right and a new No1 will probably be on the cards, but I also think that if he is willing to stay keeping Big Ben on as No2 or even No3 GK would be a reasonable thing to do. I think Bachmann will go and possibly Dahlberg as well because I doubt he will ever get to be our No1. As for the New Nigerian lad and our current No3 GK I think The young Nigerian might go out on loan and the current No3 will stay in situ. Big question is who will be our new No1 if all the above speculation came to pass?
I don't see much point in us spending £6m on a keeper and then sending him out on loan again in the summer.
Any aging crocks out there that we can squeeze another season or two out of, as is our speciality in recent years? Almunia Gomes Foster etc.
Not sure about Gomes but he was loved by a lot of fans' during his time here - despite the FA Cup Final. Almunia I think we got the best out of him when we had him. Speaking of old crocks, what about Kevin Pressman or Neville Southall? Could do a job, and around Gino's age bracket.
Gillingham now without a win in last 16 games losing 7-2 at home today. PD been in for last 4 games - can’t be doing much for his confidence- but then being at Donny hardly helped
I live in Oxford and I know a lot of people who went. They all said that 'Gillingham's goalie was shyte'.
Shocker for the 2nd Oxford penalty. Got caught out trying to play sweeper keepers. And certainly didn’t look like saving any of the penalties.
Think Dahlberg is a rare one that's actually been managed *fairly* well. The loans this season made sense, and he seemed to start pretty well at Doncaster. Just seems to be making mistakes at the moment, could be due to playing for two teams very low on confidence
He was great for Donny, why the **** did we send him to the only team in the league who are worse than them?
He wasn’t playing for Donny. And the previous Gillingham loanee keeper did such a good job he earned a move to MK Dons at the other end of the league.
Well, surely it would have everything to do with him if he’s not very good? Because, you know, he signed him?
Dropped by Doncaster and now Gillingham, not sure where he goes from here. Thank god we didn't give him a long contract extension at the start of the season...
So he's not just shyt, he's catastrophically, biblically, record-goals-conceding, gets dropped by Gillingham shyt. It's like obbi oulare. He wasn't just shyt, he was the worst player ever to pull on the yellow shirt levels of shyt. When we buy a dud, we really buy a dud don't we.
Wasn't he dropped by Doncaster because he was leaving them? Not an avid follower of Donny, but I thought he did well for them?!
Seems Dahlberg turned down a return to Sweden on loan to sign for Gillingham (right at the end of the article) https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/02/...hell-sign-4-5m-celtic-man-after-watford-snub/
He did alright at Donny, he made a few mistakes but not enough to get dropped imo (and the keeper that replaced Dahlberg isn't doing much better - shipping 23 goals in their last 10 games). He got horribly unlucky with the timings at Gillingham - conceding 7 (when a couple were his mistakes) then hiring a new manager a few days later is never going to be a good look for the goalkeeper, especially if he's only played a few games for the club prior to that. Now he's gonna be stuck on the bench barely played for another 4 months. Harris has also dropped Phillips which is odd as he's been very good for them.
