To raise standards, shouldn’t Neville be allowed to include a couple of men in the squad?

Like a couple of oldies in the u21s.

Could be the making of John Stones.

Maybe a couple of recent "gender change" personnel ? New international opportunities for Tracey Deeney, Angela Gray, Geri Deulofeu ?

Bless them for qualifying, but watching the USA v Thailand game, I can't help thinking Thailand picked the smallest goalkeeper ever and honestly, a brick could have stopped at least 3 of the goals.

I don't think we are in any position to mock Thailand when we suffered a 6.0 defeat...watching USA do that in the second half brought back ptsd

Aw bless the loves. Good on ‘em, let have a little run around and then they can go home to their husbands and let the men get on with having all the fame, glory and attention. I’ll beat the ground and weep when my men’s team lose but the thought of women playing and talking about the sport makes my **** physically shrink.

    Some right fitties too! PHWOOOAR!

I heard Spencer Prior, formerly of your parish I think Filbert?
He used to coach the Thai team.
Apparently when he arrived he had five weeks to picka team and the players hadn't had a game for 10 months!
Not much chance under those circumstances.

Aye, I think Matty Elliott coached the men’s army team (!) for a while so could have been on his recommendation. Our players seem to love that part of the world, who remembers the racist orgy? Good times.

To be fair, there's a huge gulf in funding between the western women's footballing world and the rest. Most WSL teams in England can't afford a goalkeeping coach, so who knows that the standard of coaching is like in places like Thailand where the funding is practically non-existent. The entire coaching staff of Jamaica at the Womens World Cup are volunteers. It's the equivalent of Man City playing a pub side.

    No need!
    I can take a joke.
I went all the way to Huddersfield and back on Sunday to play with a Year 2 teacher who had as much fibre, tactical and technical awareness as one of her children,so I must be able to withstand a joke!

The thai striker's best hope of scoring was to drop her shorts and launch a 40 yarder from her pelvic floor.

On a serious note, watching England's women is every bit as frustrating and annoying as watching the men. #equality

You missed some great moves by England early on, and some top-class Argie fouls (equality). Quite an entertaining game.

It's funny, the last time there was a major tournament, there was a similar thread. But that had white knights defending the girls honour and accusing anyone who said the game was **** of misogyny.

Sad to see the women's game descend to such a level that a bunch of old blokes can't even defend their **** material anymore.

I thought it was a better performance than a few I've seen from the Lionesses recently.
My only fear is that we might play NZ in the 16s.
We were hopeless against them in the friendly.
Lucy Bronze is an impressive player.

VAR seems to be working in France's favour - they got a penalty in their last game and one tonight with the defender being sent off and they were allowed to re-take it as the Nigerian goalie was adjudged to have come off her line too early!

France vs Nigeria. Soft pen, red card (2nd yellow) awarded on VAR and then, France miss the penalty but ordered retaken because goalkeeper was an inch off her line when it was taken. Oh, and keeper booked to boot.

Nigeria have a right to feel very harshly done by.
