Do people think the petition was such a bad thing still, wishing to oust them as owners?

Oyston is just bitter because he's ugly.

    Allegedly.

Am I glad I didn't sign the petition.

I've just heard Oyston's taken a class action so I guess those that signed should be getting their bills soon.

The pitch invasion yesterday. And yet another travesty committed against the fans the removal of legendary Pool player Stan Mortensen's statue. Poor Jimmy Armfield.

No sign of the footballing authorities willing to intercede as yet at what can only become a more and more toxic situation.

I agree. The authorities should step in and run a campaign to identify and give life bans to the hooligans who went on the pitch and caused the abandonment of a league match.

I don't blame them at all, absolute desperation - the owners are tearing the club apart ... fans haven't got absolutely anything to lose. Would you watch your club in the Conference South? It's going like that!!

Why has the statue been removed? I do really feel for the Blackpool fans.

    Does seem very bizarre!

Trouble is no-body will rush in to "save" them now as such.

Why wear 'V For Vendetta' masks then? Surely putting faces to the protest makes more sense then masks and scarves?

Very good piece by Samuels today about why its against the rules to spend too much money on a club but not against the rules to run one into the ground by refusing to invest in it.

Aside from the fact he seems to have no idea why the Football League are going after QPR. His article repeatedly says it's because Fernandes has tried to spend too much money keeping them up - when in actual fact FFP in the Football League is about spending unfair amounts of money to get your team promoted (ie. buying the league). His comparison between QPR and Blackpool is therefore based on a false premise.

Let's just assume it wasn't though. I agree that the Football League could have a minimum spending/investment criteria for clubs expected of their owners. But what's the punishment going to be for not abiding by it? Points deduction? Fines? Stadium bans? All things which ultimately diminish further what's going on on the pitch and send the club downwards. And what if the owners don't have the money? "Your club have been refused promotion to the The Championship as your owner is tinpot". I've not seen anyone explain satisfactorily why the Oystons would want to throw their money away by driving Blackpool down the leagues. Don't forget the club have been owned by their family for a long time. They didn't just turn up in 2010.

    Good points, well made UAE.

I know Samuels is nobody's friend here, but I did find it an interesting article (granted, his brief is always to write the opposite angle from that of the general consensus).

It seems crazy that sides can be fined for spending TOO much money on trying to be successful, but the Football League is powerless to do anything to prevent the situation at a club that barely have enough players to start the season, whose goalkeeper doesn't have a kit for a match etc etc.

I agree with you though that's it's hard to police and to know how to act.
