Blackpool: Owen and Karl Oyston begin legal action against fan

Blackpool owner Owen Oyston and chairman Karl Oyston have begun legal action against a fan who posted about them on an internet forum.

It is claimed he pair are attempting to sue the fan for £150,000 over a number of serious allegations, which they claim to be untrue.

Karl Oyston is being investigated by the Football Association for sending abusive texts to a supporter.

Blackpool declined to comment when approached by the BBC.

It is reported that the pair are unhappy with a series of posts about them, as well as accusations about the club.

Club president and shareholder Valeri Belokon called for Karl Oyston to resign over the content of the text messages Oyston sent to a fan, for which he later apologised "unreservedly".

Karl, who is a member of the Football League's board of directors, has been the focus of protests about his running of the club, which began in pre-season when the club had just eight senior players under contract.

In April last year, some fans halted a game against Burnley by throwing tennis balls and tangerines onto the pitch as a form of demonstration against him.

The Seasiders are currently bottom of the Championship after 24 matches, nine points adrift of Brighton, who occupy 21st place immediately above the relegation zone.

As many have already said, this guy is small fry compared to Bassini. Oyston at least leaves enough money to keep them running, Bassini would have run us out of existence. The Pozzo takeover really seems like a footballing miracle in hindsight and due to it we may sometimes forget just how bad things COULD have been.

If Blackpool fans had founded an AFC Blackpool a few years ago it could be in League Two by now.

What a little grass daib0 is! He's right though, I won't, but then he's missed the point of what I was actually getting at which is that such emails are worse than useless. They're the kind of things High Court judges laugh at in open court.

no, not at all, if it was really bad - like some on a Leeds forum that I won't show you where - I wouldn't mention it to the Blackpool lads out of respect!

We had a little nudge to remove anything libelous but to be honest we were doing that anyway, it just kept us on our toes.
If I recall correctly he threatened to sue Sky Sports and the Watford Observer?

Back of the net! I'm as happy about this as I would be if a wasp made it's own way out of a cracked window as soon as I noticed it was in my living room.

Bad results for Watford tonight, so let's cheer ourselves up with another great Blackpool story.

Their goalkeeper, former England squad member Joe Lewis, was forced to wear a signed shirt (intended for charity) for their game versus Reading because they had run out of shirts - presumably there are a few hundred men in Lancashire who want to make sure they're seen in the dark.

Back Henry Street with which we have had contact on several occasions is also being sued for several posters making defamatory comments about the owners. So be warned. However we do have Meister who keeps it all under control. It's a sad mess at that club. I would not wish owners like that on any club. Fans are trying to get a fund going for Mr.Knight the pensioner being forced to pay the £20000 fine.

It would be cheaper to pay someone to take him out...

... not that I would ever condone such a thing happening to a wonderful human being who has strived through many years of great personal sacrifice solely for the good of Blackpool FC and the enjoyment and well being of Blackpool fans etc cetera....
