Well the machine didn't actually move, but it said I'd done a mile.

I now know why they invented outboard motors:dismay:

A beer will help replace lost fluids, two is better.

    Update:

A couple of weeks done. I've rowed at least a mile most days. cut down a bit on the snacks & stuff and tried to do a bit more walking. That's half a stone lost.

Don't look any smaller but feel fitter for it and sleeping better.

No doubt all the good work will be undone at the beer festival and follow up rugby weekend:dismay:

You say you don't look any smaller, but did you do any before photos?

It's difficult to see incremental change, but if you had a picture of you at full size, I bet there is an improvement.

Keep it up. One night on the beers won't undo all your work.

Just hit the rowing machine the next day to row off your hangover. You'll feel better for it anyway and you'll burn some of the GBBF calories.

Well, one yardstick will be, when you can see your **** without the aid of a mirror. Then you will know you are moving forwards.

Don't forget, muscle weighs more than fat, so you've probably lost even more, and just toned up a little bit.

He will have gained zero-negligible muscle from rowing.

Correct. Unless you've got the tension turned way up (I haven't) its fitness and calorie burning only. It's a low impact exercise, one of the reasons I decided to do it as my joints are pretty much knackered.
