50 years from now, some fat Qatari sheik will laugh and recall to his friend about how they bought a berth for Qatar in the 2022 World Cup for ***** and grins.

"We weren't doing anything else with the money! Mwahahah"

The one time use then dismantle and rebuild arena idea is a ridiculous waste of time and money. They'd be better off sinking the pieces into the gulf for a surfing breakwater.

Seriously, they have so much money, why don't they try to solve some of the worlds problems with it for a change?

    Doncha just love FIFA.

And people ask why you're disillusioned with football........

And then say its your age.....

I think Brum fans are to blame.......its all their fault......and if you think that was bad go to Russia in 2018. Cos unless something drastic changes over there it'll be just like the 70's / 80's.

Stop bringing up Birmingham... what they did the other night fan wise has nothing to do with us finishing 4th out of 4 in terms of bids, despite the strength of our bid. There's crowd trouble in most places, not least in Russia with all the racism in football out there, something I though football was stiving to "kick out" - so well done there FIFA in terms of "hoping" it will be gone by 2018 - why not set an example and say that's why you're not going to get the World Cup.

On top of this, I could have sworn that FIFA said they wern't overly keen on the idea of a joint-bid, yet you have Spain/Portugal and Belgium/Netherlands both finishing ahead of us.

The press and media revelations here probably didn't help us in the week build over the past week, and it could have waited 'till next week - but Blatter has said that he "warned bid teams about the evils of the press" , so in that aspect it would seem that he's hinting our press didn't help matters.

Today is a simple demonstration of the need for reform in football, and the need to get those bribe taking morons off the panel of such decisions. Russia, an oil rich country, with billions, yet not the power to develop further without the World Cup to aid it? Transport infrastructure is going to be a horrendous problem, especially in a country that spans 9 timezones. 16 new stadia to construct, airports to refurbish, and no end of problems beyond.

Whats more is, given the whole situation in South Africa this summer, regarding the football, is how people are going to think and act in the build up to the 2018 world cup, taking into account the inevitable prospect of the Artificial (3G) pitches, and how the ball could bounce differently, or how players will be more/less injury prone depending what the foundation under the surface is by then. We'll just have to wait and see.

I'm just baffled as to how we've gone from being so strong, to apparently having the weakest bid, if there is no financial persuasion behind this... Russia and Quatar... not exactly subtle.

What next, we can't bid again until 2030 someone said, I don't understand why not in 2026, maybe that's already reserved for Abu Dhabi (UAE) - we've seen what this part of the UAE alone can do for a Formula One event, maybe that's the next surprise at the next World Cup Vote.

Russia 2018? The world's meant to end in 2012 anyway...

We deserve to know why we did not win. I would like Fifa to let us know when they did not want England to host the world cup. So much effort has gone into bidding the world cup, we at least deserve why we did not get it.

So the two best bids went out first in each cup. How did Australia get just 1 vote!? And South Korea! WTF!

Thats absolutely shocking,to get just two votes is madness.

Blatter has since said he warned bidding teams about "The evils of the press"...

... I somehow get the feeling that that could have been a hint/dig.

Right this is most perculiar. Why would you vote for Neth/Belgium in Round 1 then change your votes in Round 2 even though they are still in the process?? Weird, tactical voting to remove England? hmmm maybe....

It's a farce. There should clearly be rules preventing countries with absolutely no World Cup pedigree being able to apply to host the tournament alone.

This happens a lot with convention style voting.

"OK, in the first ballot vote for whoever you want to vote, no one will have the majority. What I need you to do is in the 2nd or 3rd ballot, shift to Russia/Qatar, you collect your $50,000 and it doesn't look like you cheated. Deal?"

Qatar are going to have a hard slog to get a team that can even get 1 point at WC 2022. Might be a good time to skip the automatic qualification for tournament hosts.

They seem at or about N. Korea's level, and we all know how that turned out...shame and humiliation for the athletes when they got home.

Russia! If only we knew that they were looking for an Arctic wasteland with a useless transport system and institutional racism for the World Cup. We could've put in a joint bid with Scotland!
