Not by me matimbers. He did well enough in the Jupiler League and was playing for Belgium who are on the upswing as a national side. As ahornet says it might be a struggle for the Villa to keep him.

Cude this is a fair point... Hell Leo hasn't even scored against us either...... Wouldn't it be great for us though to be in that sort of company in a few years though. Besides we've got Fessi...... :)

Steve Gerrard - would play in any team I have seen in the last 45 years. He has carried a club like Liverpool for most of his career. Gareth Bale is now doing the same at Spurs, frightning pace and scores all sorts of goals.

Ben Baines of Aylesbury Utd after his screamer last night set Aylesbury on their way to winning the cup.

Dorothy Perkins ? Mellis and Noble-Lazarus are worth keeping an eye on. Pretty decent academy at Barnsley and the Blades.

Finished runners up in the league on 94 points (the winners didn't lose a game!) and won the Premier Division cup last night. They should be promoted based on points per game compared to other leagues (usually on the top team is guaranteed promotion). Judging by last night the support is still there. There were a good 250+ from Aylesbury for a pretty naff cup in comparison. If they get back in to the town they should be attracting 300+ every week. Onwards and upwards for the famous Ducks!

That's great news. I'm glad they've finally managed to have a season of success. As you say, hopefully onwards and upwards. Has there been any progress made recently in getting the club back to the town? Appreciate the update.

No real news about moving back in. The college is still a possibility but they're building there again so it looks unlikely now. I don't know who owns Buckingham Rd, the ground is still there but is now a wreck. They've struck up a partnership with Aylesbury Town who are the biggest youth football club in the town. At least there's now a connection with the town which can only help. The final option is sharing a new ground with Aylesbury FC who are the senior side that are left. Their ground is crap and is easily waterlogged and they could really do with a move but they know as soon as talks start then Aylesbury Utd would get involved. If/when Utd move back they will easily become the senior side again. For example despite playing a division lower and playing in Leighton Buzzard, Utd still got a higher average attendance than FC. Then we have the cup final where 250+ Utd fans attended, something the other club can only dream of.

There was a council meeting a few months back where they discussed a new ground in the town but they stated any discussions would need to involve both clubs. If they do get back it would only be a matter of time before they climb the leagues again. A proper football club.

I remember at one point there was talk of a stadium over in Fairford Leys. They have some nice pitches over there, plenty of space. I climbed over the fence at Buckingham Road some time ago and had a look around. Such a shame to see it sitting there in such a state. I can't imagine they'll ever play there again. It's sad to see the place sitting there unused though.

I played a little bit for Aylesbury FC a few years ago, back when they were Haywood and before they had a little bit of money come in. Hercules brother was doing some coaching there at the time. Like you say, the facilities there are desperate, smallest changing rooms I've ever been in.

I remember the season when United looked set to gain promotion to the Conference, they were pulling around 3000 in most weeks. There's definitely potential in the town to support a reasonable side in the upper levels of the non-league game. My first "proper" football match was the FA Cup 3rd round game at QPR. The club gave me free tickets because I broke my arm at one of their half-term football camps.

I'm not sure Fairford Leys would be viable. I don't think the residents would suddenly want a football ground dropped in their estate.

I never really had a problem with Aylesbury FC until recently. Their gloating at Utd not being in the town and their actions to prevent the club moving back are quite distasteful. Fact is they know Utd will also be the bigger club and ruin their dream of somehow emulating them.

I remember that FA Cup day. We were at Scarborough watching Watford draw 0-0 in the snow...
