With talk of Marlon, Foster and McNamee on this forum recently plus HH coming back on loan, maybe we should try and get Ashley Young on loan. He's struggling to get into the England team with Villa, so maybe he needs to go out on loan to get a game under Capello. Maybe we could structure the deal where Villa continue to pay his wages, but he plays for us, with an option for us to make the move permanent if we get promoted and he gets into the WC squad. I think it would be a good signing for us.
I think you might be on to something here moog. Young's never hidden his fondness of the club and as you say he needs to get himself back in the England squad before the summer. Hopefully Malky is on the phone to O'Neil as we speak working something out, would definitely be a good deal for both clubs and Ash himself.
Seeing as Villa are out of Europe he will get more games playing in the Championship, so I believe this can only be a good thing for him. Plus, with Lewis Young near the first team, there is no reason why he would not want to recreate what the Nevilles, the Charltons and the Wright-Phillips brothers were able to achieve while playing in the same team. Its win win for everyone. EDIT: Seeing as Villa would be doing us a favour, the least we should do is return it. Can we loan them Ellington as a sweetener for the deal. With all that goal scoring power some of you go on about, it would be a good deal for all.
Agreed, Ellington is suited far better to the big leagues, he's being wasted down here in the Championship, he deserves a shot with a big club.
It's much better, innit? To me, it's a symptom of the fact that fans nowadays have more common ground. There's no "Moog says Boothroyd out" everyone else says "Hoofroyd stays" debates. There's little mileage in the Rodgers bashing. Everyone must be fairly happy with the way Malky's doing things with what's available. In these circumstances, we need to talk rubbish. Failing that, I'm gonna have to start actually doing my job.
It's true Ash's form has dropped badly this year... knowing his fondness of the club I see no reason why we couldnt get him back on loan in say January till the end of the season. With Doyley looking as though he's finding form just at the right time, imagine those two bombing up and down the wing. We'd make the play offs at least for sure!!!!!!!!
oh yeah as if thats going to happen start of the season he was being looked at by barcelona and chelsea if you really think bad form is going to make he do a drop from villa who are playing extremely well recentely to any championship club then you are completely bonkers
