Pereyra is out for the rest of the season and won't be named in the January 25 man squad, so another playmaker type is a top priority.

Very, very good player. I would think he'd be a bit better than us.

Brahimi is excellent. Would be well impressed with this one if they pull it off.

So once we fail in getting this player, and plans B, C & D fail, which injured/unfit player will we panic sign?

Good player, although if we need an urgent replacement for Perayra for me Young is the lower risk option

I agree low risk but very costly as he is reportedly on £110k per week.

110k a week for a player who plays is cheaper than 50k a week for a player who doesn't

My extensive player research can reveal he is 83 rated on FIFA 17 , 2 more than Pereyra .

On that basis alone it's a yes from me .

NB aren't Algeria in the African cup thingy ?

No one with any sense is going to pay a 31 year old Ashley Young £110 a week, good luck to him if he can get it

Just read he was brought up in Paris, so would be nice to think the English winter isnt going to see him dissappear like it does with most of our squad.

If we did buy him we'd probably pay him a bit less but he'd get a big ol' signing-on fee to make up for it

Would baffle our opponents. Yes from me. In fact let's get a whole Behrami army.

Similarly to Pereyra, his previous links to Pozzo family are what makes this plausible.

I wouldn't rule it out so fast..

An interesting one this. I remember a post from a while ago:

So *if* the Pozzos essentially have an 80% sell on clause for Brahimi, it means they'll get him dirt cheap if they sign him for Watford? Could be a no brainer if true. Although i'm struggling to find evidence that Doyen are owned by the Pozzos (which I can't imagine as Doyen are HUGE)

    Interesting, well remembered!

I've just found this statement too:
Futebol Clube do Porto - Futebol, SAD hereby announces, in accordance with article 248 no. 1 of the Securities Code, to acquire for 3,800,000 € (three million and eight hundred thousand euros), 30% of the economic rights of player Yacine Brahimi to Doyen Sports Investments Limited, holding 50% of the player's economic rights.

So Doyen now only own 50%, but it would still be a massive advantage (assuming the Pozzos are involved in Doyen) over rival bidders.

Haven't FIFA banned those TPO arrangements now?

Yes, but the next time the player gets transferred you have to acquire the whole rights (as otherwise many people would be left significantly out of pocket). It's only new TPOs that can't be registered.

Having looked into Doyen, I can say with some certainly that Pozzo does not have a substantial interest in it. Certainly not enough to recoup most ofthe transfer fee paid.

In any event, I'd happily see us go up to 20m for Brahimi. Cracking player.

If we fail to sign him now I think it confirms that our owners have no ambition.
