We all know that if man utd win their game against Boro and we play man utd then Ben Foster will not be allowed to play in the semi-final.

Ive written a letter to Alex and asked him to reconsider and to let Ben Foster play in what is a great occasion not only for supporters but for players as well.
I will see it as a great shame to see him miss out as he has been the one that has put in the performances to keep us in the cup at times.

support Ben and try and get sir Alex change his mind.

Nice thought, but the clause is in the contract that was written last summer ...

Yes I understand, but players sign contracts and then are transfered so this one can change to,its worth ago,we have nothing to lose.

What benefit is there for Man Utd in letting Foster play, particularly based on the wisdom that says we're only here because of him in the first place?

If we were in the Championship I guess it would be technically possible, but since we're in the Premiership it's impossible because loans between Premiership clubs can not be changed outside the transfer window.

It's the same thing if Man Utd had a clause saying they could recall him. They simple couldn't because of the transfer window.

Boothroyd has already stated that he would not play Foster in such a fixture even if he could as it would be a conflict of interests and he would not want to put the player in that situation.

It will not happen - get over it.

Not saying that we are cos of him but its every players dream to have a chance to get to the final, and compared to man utds squad to us I dont see what harm it will do to see Foster play.

Here is what Foster has said, and it pulls on the heart strings.

Watford's Foster "gutted" if Man Utd win through to semi
    March 13, 2007

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster admits he'll be "gutted" if he's forced to sit out their FA Cup semifinal.

If Manchester United overcome Middlesbrough next Monday, Watford keeper Foster cannot play against them in the last four because he is on a season-long loan from Old Trafford.

Foster, the hero of Watford's 1-0 quarter-final win at Plymouth, said: "There was always a chance this could happen and I would be gutted if it did and we end up playing United in the semi-final. But I can only get on with it.

"The Watford lads will not fear anything and if I make it through to Wembley it will be down to them.

"I've got mixed emotions. Don't ask me how I'll feel if we get them after the replay, it's bad enough knowing I might miss out in these circumstances."

The only thing that pulls on my heart strings is the thought of Richard Lee buffooning about at Villa Park :dismay:

I was of the understanding that Ben CAN play in the cup against Manure but not the league, though i could be wrong.. it is just a case of Aidey not wanting to put him in that position... so writing to sir alex isnt the way to go i feel... but nice thought.

Mark Ashton has since confirmed that the deal excludes all competitive matches.

Strangely there is a massive benefit, as ManU are contemplating their first team keeper options for next year. The more experience Ben gets of playing big games in front of large crowds is great experience for the lad and the club.

ManU would be confident they could give Ben a testing game, and wouldn`t seriously think they could lose anyway.

Interestingly the agreement not to play Ben against ManU is only for league games, although Aidy said out of respect he would not try and challenge it.

The loan deal prevents him playing against Manure in any competition as said by others.

It is nothing to do with Aidy not wanting to challenge anything.

I don't for a minute think Fergie would give an opposing side any advantage if he could avoid it. Regardless of the liklihood of it happening if Foster were to play a blinder and Watford win through to the FA Cup Final 1-0 could you imagine the uproar? Fergie wants his treble and will stop at nothing to get it. However, this is only my opinion.

You're wrong on the second bit however. As Ashton says here: http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx...d=57&lid=&title=Ashton+predicts+tought+fight)

The interesting bit in the Ashton quote:

"As far as I am aware that still stands."

Their groundsman signed a codicil excluding the FA Cup as part of the Ben agreement.

Mind you with Rich in sound form we have such strength in the goalkeeping position we can still `see them off`!

To be honest as gutted as I am that Ben can't play, I would still be confident with Rich in goal.

The games he's played this season he has played well, his kicking has improved immensly (Bens Influence?), you have got to remember that we have won more games with Rich in goal this season than we have with Ben in Goal.

I've always been favourable to him being in the team, particularly after his start to the season. But against both Everton and to an extend Charlton he was shocking.

    So was our defence

  27. UEA_Hornet

I'm not suggesting he was solely to blame. But he was a significant contributor. And even if you remove the goals from the equation you're still left with dropped crosses, fumbled shots, balls going through his legs, a defence lacking authority behind them etc etc. This is not me having a pointless pop at Lee. I'm simply contesting the notion that he is currently on form.

  28. The Hornet

The Hornet The Quiet Mod is Watching

I agree, he needs to command the area better and be more confident on crosses.

his kicking and throwing were carp against both Everton and Charlton, probably two of his worst performances

Coco flapping about, causing panic and impersonating Dracula every time a ball is swung in, no bl00dy chance.
