Milton Keynes gets the nomination for being a venue Emirates, Wembley and the Olympic or Tottenham new Stadium as the London ones. Depends on the seating size of the Olympic Stadium after 2012.
Full list London: Wembley, Emirates Stadium, new White Hart Lane/Olympic Stadium Birmingham: Villa Park Manchester: City of Manchester Stadium, Old Trafford Nottingham: New Nottingham Forest ground Leeds: Elland Road Sheffield: Hillsborough Newcastle: St James' Park Bristol: New Ashton Vale stadium Plymouth: Home Park Liverpool: Anfield or new Anfield Milton Keynes: Stadium MK
They wanted a place where all the non grockles could gather and observe a spectacle. Nottinghams new Brian Clough Arena willbe superb and very green. But MK ? They do not deserve a spot ahead of Derby or Leicester.
why can't twickenham be used? rugby goes on at wembley? seems a waste to be expanding small stadiums for one competition when theres a perfectly good 82000 seater not used. edit: just saw that you can only have 3 in one city. wasteful
Aside from that I'm sure the licence from the local council which enables Twickenham to host sports events doesn't extend to football.
Watford was also on the list until yesterday's announcement. You cant play football at a block of apartments.:]]:]]
