The players and owners only have themselves to blame for this relegation.

Regarding the match we played incredibly well but why not put in the same intensity in our previous 10 matches, by which point we would of stayed up. Unbelievably Arsenal scored with their first 3 attacks so it seemed and yet we should of won the game 4-3 with the chances we created. Why did we not show the same urgency away to Burnley or WHU recently?

Welbeck ( twice) , Peyrera , Masina and Deeney in stoppage time had the chances to win us the game and we did not take them. Welbeck showed today that although he is a good footballer he is not a natural finisher.

Why did we bring on Chalobah and Cleverly with 10 minutes to go to change the game?! Then Bring on Pedro with 5 minutes to go. Pedro should of been brought on with at least 20 minutes left he has good technique and looks decent but we persist in giving him 5 minutes. We do not learn our lessons and I am not convinced that it was Mullins making the subs as it seemed a continuation of the subs made by the previous management.

I feel sorry for Sarr and Hughes who I think genuinely care. Deeney needs to go, he played well today but it seems no one has the power to take him out the team. Peyrera thinks he is too good for Watford and needs to be sold.

We have to get promoted next year otherwise it is going to be a major job to rebuild Watford.

Feel sorry for me too Going Down. Since I’ve joined the forum again, we’ve lost every match lol.

Let’s see how long it is before somebody at Bournemouth notices that goal-line technology failure cost them their PL status. (Indirectly)

This relegation needs to be seen as the opportunity to refresh that it is.

We have resources across the two clubs and the nouse to build a championship squad that can compete at the top, it just has to be done properly.

Over the last season or so i havent seen a lot of personality in the way we play, when we were in The Champ we had bags of it, I welcome a biig slice of that returning.

Dissapointed, but looking forward to what could be, over to you Watford FC

The game summed up the squad deficiency everyone can see.
Keystone cop defending and kicking the ball over the bar up the
    other end .
It's all very well having loads of technically gifted players in midfield
We all want our team to play tika-taka football
But ultimately the game is all about stopping the ball going into your net
and putting it in the net up the other end .
Style formations etc etc is all flim flam if you haven't addressed the basics
It is one of my pet hates in football , missing the target . It doesn't matter if
your shot is a mm wide of the mark or row z . They are both goal kicks .
No rebound no second ball no chance of a fumble from the keeper
    It's a goal kick .

I have seen enough from Pedro in his 2 short cameos to ask questions along
the line of " why hasn't he played more since the resumption?"

Also we needed to score and we had an £80,000 a week "striker" on the bench
who didn't get the nod which was the correct decision IMO .
But who is ultimately responsible for the Gray deal ?

    Well said.
I took my Son the community open day while over in England last year.
There were rumours then about the lack of preparation of the players. No 90 mins games had been lined up, only 5 aside matches and players allowed to come and go as they pleased
On that day, apart from Gomes, Maricrappa and Deeney, to be fair, the other players couldn't give a **** for the kids there. Sure, the kids didn't notice or care, but other Parents did notice. That was not the Watford l know.
It has been a piss poor season. No effort, leadership, fitness and direction. The club seems to be imploding.
You must wonder what are Gino/ Duxbury doing?
11th last season to dog s**t this season.
I say it again, something is massively wrong at Watford on and off the pitch.
Like Bournemouth, we are heavily in debt and have already borrowed against our now parachute payments.
Worrying times for non playing staff members.
I will be interested to read if the rumours of the sale of the club, administration or fire sale ring true.
It is not the end, but a day which could have been avoided with astute ownership.
We could well struggle in the Championship, if we do not make the right appointment of a manager.

There’s something wrong when the team that become the first team to beat/thrash the champions in March play so poorly at the likes Burnley and West Ham! and go down with a whimper really when it was in their hands with 3 games to go!

EPL get what they planned with their ingenious VAR strategy - big clubs stay and small clubs relegated.
'What's a bit of controversy if we keep the big 6/7/8 at the top and get rid of the small club dross -well done Villa lol - and welcome back Leeds.'

Annoyingly Muff get above us on the last day again. Deja vu.

But not enough players gave a Shjt. Coasting and now will happily move on. Saddest thing is the effort shown today - 19 shots, 8 corners - could be and should be shown every week..

Ultimately we got what we deserved and many neutrals feel the same with our revolving door manager/coach man management policy ..

    Feel empty ..

Honestly I'd already accepted we were down so today actually feels a bit anticlimactic.

In many ways I'm happy that we have fully deserved to go down, as opposed to having been really unlucky throughout the season. Makes it a lot harder to make excuses.

Everyone connected to the club surely knows what must now be done: a mass clear out of the passengers, and a post-Deeney plan, and what must be done in the future: no more bargain basement "neat and tidy"s, but more emphasis on players with a battling mentality and a bit of steel. The backseat-management of Giraldi and co also needs to stop.

Awful, awful season, let's just hope we can at least learn lessons from it.

So down we go having beaten two of the top three.

We didn’t lose either match to the side who finished 6th and we beat the team who finished 7th.

We took 6 points off the only side to finish below us, 4 points off the other relegation team and even beat the team who just pipped us to safety.

We go down despite turning at an eight point gap at the bottom to a seven point lead over the relegation zone with less than a month to go.

    Weird and frustrating season.

I never thought I'd dislike a Watford team more than the one Vialli assembled in the 01/02 season, I really didn't think it was possible. But looking back, while we had absolute *****ing ****s like Vega, Issa, Blondeau etc, at least we had Galli and managed to make something out of Gayle the following year. We even still had enough remnants of GT's team in Chamberlain, Robinson, Hyde, Helguson, Smith for there to be something there that was still likeable, that actually made you want to shout for the guys in yellow.

When you compare that to the ******* cowards we've seen on the pitch this season, it really says something that I'd happily have them here now. With the exception of maybe 2 or 3 players, they have been a disgrace. While the owner has f*ckload to answer for, the players are an absoulotely poisonous bunch, and I really hope this is the last we've seen of a lot of them.

I can deal with players that aren't skillfull, or prone to bad decisions who put the effort in, and I can (grudgingly) deal with a player that strolls around selectively expending energy as long as he produces the goods when needs be, but for a whole squad to combine half-hearted performances with idiocy (on and off the pitch) and consistently getting pasted? No, **** the **** off, you useless ****s.

I don't know how much of a measure it is for most people, but I'd never booed the team before this season. But as soon as we conceded that third goal against Everton, I did so. The sheer cowardice was just infuriating. I have a great deal of sympathy for things like awful anxiety, but these players are paid huge amounts of money for a job so many would kill to do. They needed to stand up and be counted and they failed pathetically.

Whoever the new Head Coach (whatever the **** that title actually means now), he's got a ******* hard job on, to put it mildly. This squad seriously needs clearing out, but the ones we need to jettison aren't gonna have any buyers, and the ones we need to keep will have twitchy agents and clubs looking to lowball us. Looking pretty bleak.

I don't know whether it's the lockdown, the fact we've had such a turd of a season, or due to my own circumstances, but I've just lost so much love for football. Maybe it's the obscene level of money, the tedious social media aspect now involved, the amount of play acting on the pitch we see, or ***** like VAR being unsuccessfully used by our moronic old boys referees club, but it's become so ******* loathsome. I don't think I've watched MOTD since last season, and aside from Watford games, I think I watched maybe two matches since the lockdown. Still play Fifa, though. More fool me.

A horrible season and a horrible time to be a Watford fan. If I'd been told this would happen after we beat Wolves at Wembley.....

See you in a few weeks, I guess. Can't wait to see what team we put out at home to Wycombe!

Oh, and Giraldi can **** off. God I hope he does. Deeney, too- smiling to himself after the final whistle ffs.

Devastated. I'm not ever one to give up hope as there's always a chance. Today would have been encouraging a few weeks ago but not to be in the end.

I just want to hold on to our young talent now. We needed a changing of the guard and hopefully it'll happen.

It was nice to see some passion today. Too late but we at least fought.

It could be a lot of fun next season. Its up to the pozzos to keep the talent on the books and we can use the 5yr prem stint to have laid a foundation to push on again.

I'm off to get very drunk. Se you in a few weeks

I know the fans love to pin a player as a scapegoat. Happens all the time in what is a team sport.

However when you see Foulquier at Granada, Okaka and Sema at Udinese playing as they are then it reflects badly on the parent club and who was managing them at the time. Personally if it was between Gray and Okaka I know who I would pick to play alongside Deeney. Off the pitch the club has been handling the careers of several players poorly. It is not always the case that a player is at fault. The manager may take a dislike for whatever reason, or get an idea in their head they are not suitable especially as someone else brought them in, or a particular clique is not accomodating (a dressing room issue when the same players play over and over again and others are seen as outsiders).

Quite apart from the loss of revenue we will also miss out on Musso. If Martinez the ***** is deemed pretty decent then Musso is better. Given Foster's age we won't be able to rely on him constantly and we have let Dahlberg stagnate.

Feel so down & dejected. The writing was on the wall but it's still not easy to take. First relegation I've properly experienced (was only a child for the 2000 & 2007 relegations).

I think a huge rebuild is needed at the club though, we've seriously lost our way this season both on & off the pitch.

Today I built a fort with my sons, we raced cars, played hide and seek, painted, watched Daniel the tiger, played duck duck goose, all while dealing with Hurricane Hanna last night when we lost power. Power is back on.

Didn’t even bother watching the game, turned my phone off as it was always going to end one way.

The club, board, and players blew it.

Multiple decisions have gone against us. It’s been a horrible season. However how many times this season have we just turned up for one half. How we played in the second half is how we should have played every game this season. We didn’t. So we got what we deserved.

Now it’s up to Gino to show the fans that he is serious about bouncing back. He has big decisions to make. The first needs to be Giraldi being fired. He has been in charge of recruitment and he has played a big part in why we are relegated.

Next thing is too hire a competent manager. No more of these freebies, manager with connections to the pozzo’s, or washed up Italian hasbeens. Put faith and trust in him and back him in the transfermarket. Their model has failed us and they need to readjust for the future of this club.

Thirdly they need to sign proper defenders. We’ve got an embarrassing backline and that needs to change with immediate affect. Our midfielders and forwards don’t trust our backline so we can never push forward.

Fourth, they need to keep ahold of as many key players as possible. Sit downs with players and agents starts today. Do everything we can to convince them to give us one more season, if we don’t bounce back, then we will sell them.

Am I gutted, yes, surprised, no. Had no false hopes of staying up and for once Watford haven’t ruined what’s been a good day with my wife and kids.
