a few people have mentioned Ebanks Blake who we were in for a few years ago. However him as a striker and Adam Hammill who is out of favour as a midfielder would be an amazing coup.

Could we afford the former and hasn't the latter just joined them maybe as "one for the future"?

Loan with option and a straight loan is what I've heard.

Not sure where the Hammill or in particular Ebanks Blake link has come from. Highly doubt its true, but if we somehow got the pair we'd probably get playoffs...

Until someone actually hears something, it's pretty pointless discussing it.

    It's too teasing.

I was referring to him being brought up earlier in another threat, like? I'd love to see it happen. If Ebanks Blake really is available we should definitely give it a go, if he'll take 8k or so a week and fit into our wage system then I think the transfer budget wouldn't be an issue. Get Big Chris to put in a good word, could make his wages worth while!

I think if Hammill was to be aloud to go out, he'd probably go to Blackpool, Forest or Southampton.

Why all these spurious transfer targets ?

Simply put we cannot afford them or the players concerned will not see us as a club that can in their eyes challenge for promotion.

We need to pick up young players with potential from lower down the pyramid and they can be found ie Carl Jenkinson, focus on our academy or make judicious loan signings from certain Premiership clubs.

Has our budget for a striker not just been "significantly" increased!!!! We will see a 750 to 1 mill striker come in rest assured. I like many others on this forum have faith in baz and I like how he is taking things forward

I'm with you Wincey and good god I'd love to see it happen!

The problem is I can't see Ebanks-Blake going for less than £3m and didn't they only get Hammill in January?

I don't think Ebanks-Blake is worth anything like £3m any more, he's barely played in the couple of years they've been back in the Premier League.

I'd imagine he'd probably be allowed to go for £1.5-2m, which unfortunately is still probably a lot more than we could afford, even with this "significantly increased" transfer budget.

Loan is always a possibility but I doubt we'd be the only ones in for him!

Wolves are building a new stand are they not? Perhaps we could give them the old seats from the Rookery that we replaced this summer as they faded to a goldish colour? Say 2,000 seats, a flat overlooking the allotment, Chris Iwelumo and 100k?
