Wolves Away- A Word Of Caution

Last time we went to Wolves the club and police decided in their wisdom that it would be a good idea to have a non policed game.
In other words it gave the Stewards the opportunity to be as heavy handed as they liked with a large number of our supporters being thrown out within the first 15 minutes. Most were chucked out for standing up with one lad thrown out just before half time as he got up to go and get a drink!
Once the match was over the Stewards had no intention of venturing outside the ground and a number of Wolves supporters took advantage of that.
As you leave the ground there is a Wolves pub about 200mts down the road on the left. Two seasons ago a group of Wolves fans tried to start just outside the pub knowing that if it kicked off the pub would empty. Strangely one loan Asian steward saw what was happening and stood in between the Wolves and our lot and the moment passed.
For those of you going to Wolves for the first time there is a pedestrian subway about 500 - 800mts from the ground which is a well known trouble spot.
With an early evening ko I doubt if the game will be a non policed event but thought I would just share the experience with you.

Only just over a year ago someone off a coach got a kicking whilst others on the coach locked the doors and watched!

It never used to be as bad when you went in at the top end a few years ago, but now as Rich says you go straight past the pub which is normally fully of incoherent Chavs who have had two many cherryades and suddenly think they are hard.

Just a mini warning at the outset here as I can see where this one could head...as much as I'm sure people would love to recount the Wolves coach/fight story once more it's been done to death. And then the casuals v family club argument starts again :dismay:

The atmosphere around the pub that Easter day was a bit hairy as I remember. It was before the game mind you so it was mainly banter. No harm done. The stewards were arseholes that day too but oddly enough down where I was sitting there were 5/6 absolutely pished guys starting some great chants and although they were rolling across the aisles the stewards left them be for around 80 minutes. Very odd but decent of the stewards as they were no fuss, just after a good time.

My advice would be avoid getting a hot chocolate at half time. Seems to be against club rules.

    Yes, I do...

...I was slating even the slightest possibility of people from Wolverhampton having some form of brainpower...

...Even to suggest it in the sarcastic manner that you did is bad enough.

Heard a few stories about Wolves but it won't stop me from going up there and supporting my team. Like Keiran said I thought trouble only came if you looked for it, but I guess not.

Seeing as though it's a TV game as well as being an evening KO I don't envisage much of a problem in terms of policing, etc.

Right. . . . as always happens at away the games the planks who get on the supporters coaches are always the first to give the hand signals and wind the opposition up in the ground- leaving people like yours truly to still have to get back to the station with mates amongst disgruntled locals.

USUALLY they have a police escort to and from the ground, last time this was not the case and someone i know stood up to the 'Local Yoots' and ended up getting a bit of a pasting as the big brave boys in the ground were 'looking the other way' on the coach and only McNamee's old man helped him out (Well done that man).

Now my group went for a drink in town after then 5 of us made our way to the station past 'their' pub, with around 40-50 blokes in the beer garden. 'Cockney c*nts, come on gobby cockney conts' as we were around 100 yards past the boozer. kept on walking to the station and luckily most had given up apart from 7 or 8 when they were pulled to one side and asked to take a walk round the back of the station, they were a bit shocked and declined and we were on our way.

So yes, you should keep your mouths shut at Wolves and i dont feel sorry for anyone who gets a smack if they have gesticualting to the home fans for the whole 90 minutes, only to cry about it outside when it all goes Pete Tong.

    Rant over!

To be fair you see other fans coaches at vic and they are all giving it large on the coach, i don't think ours are that bad. Wolves last year were just ******* in general, the train i was getting home wasn't 'til a fair while after the game so went into the town after mostly as there was a mcdonalds which was one of few things open (believe it was easter or something) and got a fair few comments, mostly from kids but still.

We've had this before and my feelings about the cowards on the coaches were made well clear on the old board bt Watford Away is right- as a club we have a lot of supporters who are only too happy to dish out geticulations within the ground safe in the knowledge they can jump on a club coach and get safely home! Wolves is like any other game, keep your head down and you'll be safe and sound! Give it large and you'll get what your asking for, a confrontation!

but also like i said there are plenty of other teams who come to vic rd and get larey when inside coaches, really everytime i've been on watford ones theres normally only one or two tw*ts who nobody would take seriously if they saw them. The worst at vic rd last year was ipswhich, imbred *****.

Your missing the point Orns4Life- other teams fans get lairy and back it up. the majority of ours get lairy then shoot off when confronted! That's the difference!

fair enough but just pointing out you will get people at every club who give it through the whole game pointing at you then outside and stuff and then are nowhere to be seen after

Doesn't just apply for wolves, you will always get people who are happy to 'give it the biggun' only to leave it to others to face the consequences.
