I played reserve keeper and speak from experience. It is possible to stick out a leg if you're back on your haunches but that's not normal for keepers, they like to be on their toes ready to spring. I always used to stick out my hand and it worked very well but please don't ask me how many times I set up the following week in my usual left back position with bandaged fingers ... they break very easily against hard ground.
True, but how many times do you see a goal go in that's slotted underneath the keeper? I think keepers go to ground and try to cover as much ground in front of the player/ball as possible (by splitting their legs), and still have their arms to save anything that goes a little higher. That said, it's pretty counter-intuitive for a bloke to send one leg either way. Even for a professional, putting your *******s on show to an oncoming striker would be a bit ****.
Hoban's first yellow was a joke and how Fernando didn't get a penalty I'll never know. Actually that's a lie, yet another substandard referee.
Heard that some Wolves thugs were trying to cause agro against men with kids in tow. Some sub standard human beings out there. Obviously not reflective of all Wolves fans but there seems to be a scummy element amongst them.
i wonder how much the contrasting light contributed to the (uncharacteristic) Gomes errors; it was both very bright and very dark depending on which bit of the pitch you looked at
If you stick your leg out you're more than likely going to lose your balance/fall backwards and be slower to respond to any follow up shots.
A goalkeeper must do anything he can and all will practise this ... it just depends how you are set when the shot is taken, there's no dark secret.
Neanderthals day out!!
I'm surprised they see any of the game what with the amount of bile they throw at the away supporters. Absolute ****ing animals.
