Wigan Athletic F.C. Information: From Football Manager..... In depth history here. My thoughts are you've let down the forum, you've let down the other match preview writers, you've let down Alex and the moderators and you've let down Watford FC. But more than that you've let yourself down. I hope you're proud.
I sincerely hope our players don't read this before the game, as this will set them on a severe downer ahead of the game. Really poor show.
I'm devastated. I opened up this thread expecting to see a thesis on Uwe Rosler. brb off to kill myself cos i dont no whose injured/suspended/in-form lol
Where will I get my fix of a potted history of some northern hell hole followed by a list of who has a groin strain now?
I actually didn't realise how terrible our away form has been under Sannino until I read the stat a couple of days back. No wins from 9. Serious question for a minute - even if the home form carries on what if we don't win a single away game under him by the time the season is up? There's always been a noticeable attitude on these forums that sins away from home are much less important than those committed at the Vic as obviously 10,000 people are committed to going week in week out at home while maybe a core of only 300 witness every away game. In other news it's good to see him trying to do his press conferences in English as well as Italian on Hornets Player now. Might be a mark of the man given there are others out there who after 2 years still aren't brave enough to do that.
Pochettino speaks perfectly fluent English in training and around the club, just hides behind his interpreter for a number of reasons post match, such as can give him a short while extra to react to any harsh/questionable questions.
You realise that if we win tomorrow we are going to need a late and carp match preview for every away game lest we break the lucky spell
My prediction ... Golden Boys eventually learn how to hold onto a 2 goal lead away from home against a knackered Wigan team distracted by thoughts of what suit they will be choosing to wear at Wembley for the pre-match pitch inspection walkabout. So, Wigan 0-2 Watford Angella - header from a Tozser corner Merkel - drilled shot from left edge of box that deflects off defender and goes in off the post from a cutback from Pudil ). Faraoni has a goal disallowed for offside (incorrectly of course) . Wigan have a man sent off late on, probably around the 81st minute. No away fans will be attacked after the game but 2 will get minor food poisoning from a dodgy burger van and will have to pull a sickie the next day incurring the suspicious wrath of their bosses who find out from the office grass that they were at a Watford away game the night before. Apart from that I havent got a clue what will happen. Its the bloody Championship, far too difficult to predict
Surely no self-respecting fan would travel to Wigan and have a burger from a van - has to be a pie in the ground? Apart from that, I'm sure your prediction is spot on.
I would never eat within a 2 mile radius of any football ground. Football grounds guarantee that all food in the proximity is awful.
As a rule I would agree. I have only sampled the wares of a football ground burger van once in my life (about 20 years ago at Upton Park of all places) - & (only just) lived to regret it. But rumour has it the pies at the Pie eaters are genuinely very good
Supporting Watford Ive eaten a fair amount of humble pie generally within the 90 seconds walk of the ground.
I like peas with a pie or even a battered fish , but dont like the way the peas make the chips go soggy and luminous green so tend to stay away from them . Which is a shame really.
My FIFA Predicts... Wigan 0 - 0 Watford Watford substitutions: 58' - Battocchio off/Merkel on 77' - Toszer off/O'Nien on Man of the match: Manuel Almunia Odds: 0-0 @17/2
Even corporate food is crap. At Arsenal they have a sort of exhibition hall full of food stands and takeaways, which are all three times the price of high street take outs and 1/3 as good
Bluebird is within a mile of Chelsea; it's gone downhill a little recently though so your point still stands
Interesting team news from the DW Stadium: Watford FC XI Almunia (GK) (c); Belkalem, Cassetti, Angella; Faraoni, Battocchio, Tozser, McGugan, Pudil; Anya, Deeney. Watford FC SUBS Bond (GK), Hoban, Neill, Ekstrand, Doyley, Merkel, Diakite. Only change from the 3-0 win at home against Barnsley is that Doyley is dropped and replaced by Belkalem, which I'm sure no-one expected.
Belk is a surprise, maybe Beppe's seen something. Still a concern for the lack of strikers if Deeney were to become injured/suspended.
Am assuming that Belkalem has been looking good in training. I know he splits opinion on here which is fair enough but I thought he started to look pretty decent before he got injured.
Good for him. Always thought he'd be a good player at this level. Though, I thought the same about Whichelow and Bennett. EDIT: It's actually his first Wigan start
