Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place, I'm only new. Anyway, i was just wondering who do you go to games with? Do you go on your own, or with family or friends? I don't get to see many games with my dad any more, I'm just wondering would it be odd if i went to see some home games on my own? Obviously I'm allowed in on my own at 16. I'm just wondering what peoples opinions of this are. Thanks, and sorry if this should go in another part of the forum:forehead:
You're not odd at all Simms! - and you are in the right part of the forum imo I went to games (both home and away) with my children for the first few years of supporting WFC but when they grew up (unfortunately!!) they stopped going mainly due to financial and work related reasons Their non-involvement with WFC has meant that I have gone on my own to games for the past year or so but with you joining WFC forums you may well find some people of your age who you could meet up with - in fact there are more members of WFC forums of your age I would imagine than mine!! I am a member of the City 'Orns and through that WFC group (plus a couple of WFC forums and message boards, including this one) I have also been able to meet up, put faces to and share a drink and meet other supporters, many of whom have become firm friends Good luck and welcome to the forum!!
Thanks. Yep, not really financial reasons with me, my dads just been really busy with work. Luckily I'm going to the Newcastle game on Saturday, my first game this season I think. Anyway if there are any people my age reading this, pm me perhaps? Not really sure how it all works yet. EDIT: Thank you esp, fantastic suggestion.
The club are going to be offering a 5 or 6 game package soon, a sort of mini season ticket. I think this will give you a guaranteed seat for those games, so I would imagine that you could get to know some people sitting around you at those games, who you could become friends with? You never know? Just a thought!!!
okay, I will defiantly check that out when it is available, thanks. Yes i guess so, hopefully people my age around me too. Do you know any more about this package? I'm not 100% sure I could go to the Tuesday night home games, but i will try if its cheap enough. Thanks.
Haven't you got a watford supporting mate you could talk into going? Don't go as much as I used to but normally go with 2 or 3 mates and sometimes manage to talk a few more (non-watford supporting) into it for decent awaydays (london games, peterbrough, blackpool etc). Harder when your 16 i guess.
Nope, no Watford supporting mates, but my mate is a Chelsea fan, we tried to get tickets to the FA cup game but failed, I didn't really want to sit in the home stand anyway.
Everyone at Watford is friends anyway, normally with friends or family but been by myself in the past, there's nothing 'wrong' with any
Going to my 1st game on my own on sat! Usually go with family and ive convinced 3 of my mates to come over from Belfast for the Reading game in April!
I usually go with a group of friends who I've known for almost 30 years . I also seem to bump into my daughters schoolfriends dads at most games who always seem to be p***ed, several people from here most games, and now and again I'll go to a game with a couple of Hornet workmates and sometimes even away supporters of various Championship and clubs and assorted other glory hunters. The kids come to the Saturday games and halfterm night games, but other night games we invite anyone who will buy a few beers in exchange for the kids ST's. Halftimes are never boring, usually the highlight of the match, and I can't remember the last time I saw the 2nd half kick off.
that is very true although it feels like an age since I last went. Now I tend to go to matches with my fiance, before that mainly friends, many of whom I made through this forum, and before all of that i used to go alone!! I have been to many away games by myself and met a number of people at the matches that I still see now, or used to when I didnt spend 3 out of every 4 weeks out of the country.
I am a big loner and have been going on my own for about the last 4 years! Used to go with family but they moved up to Norfolk and my dad has pretty much refused to go since the Lewington era, only going to the league cup to see the 'youth' come through and boxing day games. Sometime manage to drag my other half to away games on the promise she can go shopping in lovely Reading town centre etc while I pop to the game! I have never knowingly met anyone from the forum but have a good idea who some people are!
Thing is, none of my mates are supporters, and they arent willing to go to games with me, as we are 16, so broke.:forehead: I guess i will have to start going on my own to games, id like to be able to see a good 10+ games a season, at the moment its 1 or 2
Yep, but wont i end up sitting with different people every time? unless i sit next to someone with a season ticket in the same place?
Probably as you haven't got ST and will end up in a different seat each time. It's only Watford though, you won't end up next to a total nutter. More likely to end up next to a fat, foul smelling geek who will bore you half to death.
I did once sit next to a man, who at every oppertunity, stood up and called the ref "you little hitler" even when he clearly made the correct decision:doh:
I don't know the guys that sit near me, but I see them around Hemel sometimes, and even at one my team's game looked like one of them was there, there was 4 of us that went, now just 2, so the 2 vacated seats have been taken up by some **** with BO and dirty breath and his annoying yank girlfriend (This is going to be embarrassing if it's anyone on here)
Can you not insult me like that you little shyte! And leave my bird out of it, she's fantastic both in the kitchen and in bed. You're in for it now!
Apparently I sat near Cudey at a game once. He seems to remember me, but I struggle to remember seeing him (no offence mate, I'm just blind that's all). But we had this conversation somewhere else not so long ago. I admit I have been to games on my own as well. Home and away.
Does everyone here sit in the rookery? on saturday i might have tickets in the lower rous or vic road end, because its my dads friend who is buying them and coming with. i prefer the rookery, and my dad the rous. When you go to away games, is it like all safe to travel on the coach at my age and things?
