Hahaha good one, we've won what, 1 in 11 now? We've just lost Cleverley and Buckley for the season, and no Lansbury or Harley for the next game either. You make winning sound so simple, it's not happening.
Realistically and seriously speaking theres only one relegation spot up for grabs, tween us, Scunthorpe, Wednesday, Palace and maybe QPR. On current form we're down. Our game in hand is away to QPR. When was the last time we won away ? Its not gona be down to Snookers or Mathmatics soon, Moogie ol son, its gonna be down to miracles.
I have lived in reality all season. It gets boring after a while, and people tend to have a go at you. EG Blackpool away when i stated we are in serious trouble.
Just back, a bit shellshocked to be fair. It feels like a loss, but to draw against WBA is a h3ll of a result when you think about what most of us thought the score would be pre kick off. To see their fans celebrating a late draw against us actually hurt. We played well against a premiership team and scored with 10 men, the defence were magnificent, and Loach had bugger all to do all game except pick the ball out of the net at the death. I'm gutted, but keep that performance up and we won't go down, not a chance. Those of you knocking Demerrit tonight are sadly misguided, he was 100% committed, but Bennett was MOM by a country mile.
100% agree. DeMerit and Bennett both played fantastic! As for the goal, it was Mariappa ball watching. Any news on Doyley, Buckley and Cleverley's injuries?
The effort from Demerit today, from what I saw online, was much better. I think being dropped and realising his USA world cup dream would be under threat if he couldn't get in our first 11, probably spurred him on. His header however for their goal, was appauling. He could have headed it anywhere, and he decided to give it straight back to them on the edge of our box! His lack of ability cost us today...normally it's his effort. Whereas Dale Bennett for example, showed the way forward! He put his f**king nuts on the line today, and I feel sorry for him more than anyone else in our team.
Bennett absolutely exceptional. Covering all over the place. Harley prat. Needless sending off which makes Mulky's job harder. Fully deserved three points if only Mariappa had whacked his shot harder . Eustace once again holding it all together. Great goal but then once again sleeping at the back both Jay and Mariappa. Mond you the nerves were immense so goodness knows what the players were feeling. And to get there after Tom having to go off. Probably a cruciate ? Didn't miss Doynkey too much though. Just heard some whining WBA fans accusing us of thuggery. Bit rich with *****s like Cech and Bednar and Mulumbu throwing their weight about. Feels like a loss but some positives tobuild on. Shame we cannot play with such determination every game otherwise we'd be up there. Hopefully Buckley who looked bright and worked very hard but did not create too much should be fit soon enough for Argyle. They've nothing to lose so we will need to put another immense effort in. Three points on Saturday would help seeing as the Owls have to play the Boro away.
I'm happy with the point, but cant see Cleverley putting on a Watford shirt again. Its time now to get the behind the team as we really can stay up. Football is a funny game we could beat qpr and overtake then and they go down.
Good to see people giving Bennet the praise he deserved, absolutely brilliant. He played well when he came in earlier this season and was decent againt PNE and just supurb today. To be honest that was the best performance I have seen from a Watford team for quite a while and we were desperately unlucky and would like to think if we had a full team out and Harley had not got himself stupidly sent off, poor Graham (a 9.75 out of 10 performance)would have had some help out there to hold the ball up. I hope the rest of the team have a look at the dvd after the game and see the effort that the likes of Bennet, Graham and Eutace put in today. If the likes of DeMerit had done that earlier this season, we would not be in the same position.
cleverley looked like a bad injury, he's done really well since he's been here, thanks for your hard work tom, cant see him playing again too soon. as for Bennett, he was exceptional, Demerit played well too imo, made some crucial tackles, shame we didnt hold on untill the end! well done Danny Graham too, he worked very hard, and deserved his goal. and what a goal that was!
Just seen the WBA goal again, absolutely f**king useless defending, I've lost count of the amount of goals we've conceded exactly like that this season, our marking is pathetic at times. Great goal by Graham though, he had a good game today, and that's 2 in 3 isn't it?
I always feared they'd nick a later undeserved winner, so when Graham scored I relaxed a bit. Obv Gutted they scored but it's not winning games like today that make the difference its beating, Palace, Posh and Sheffield Wednesday. We lost all 3. That is what has cost us. 3 points alone would have had us 5 points clear (I think) Effort was back - shows that some players should have been dropped/brought in sooner to stop the rot. The equaliser appeared to come about because 3 of our players got sucked in when the ball went out for a throw (I don't know why it took 3 of them to knock it out when their guy was on the floor!). They had the extra man and were able to exploit the space at the back post.
Danny Graham, you have Unbelievable Tekkers. One of the best goals in a while, and maddest celebration since Doyley's What a suprise, Marriappa loses his man again, and costs us the goal. He would actually make a better right mid.
Perhaps I just have lower expectations than most on here. Before the game I said I'd be happy for 0-3 or less and would have been thrilled with a point but not believed it possible. After putting in that performance I'm disappointed with a point but I'm not going to blame anyone for anything. It's a point I never believed we'd have so we're a point better off going into Saturday's game.
Olsson, the WBA left back, went to clear the ball upfield and out of his own half. He was in front of the Rous side linesman. Tom Cleverley ran across at coming in from Olsson's right side to tackle/intercept/close down just as Olsson struck the ball. Olsson's follow through struck Cleverley's right leg about the knee very hard completely side on, bending it the way it isn't designed by God to pivot. Cleverley went straight down in agony, his right leg a tad wonky. He couldn't move or get up. It looked like shattered knee ligaments or a broken leg. The medical shielded the injury as they put Tom on the stretcher and gave him oxygen straightaway The lino didn't blink and the ref missed it as he was watching the ball. No free kick given either, but Olsson was the man in possession and cannot be blamed as I don't believe he had the intent. A genuine unfortunate footballing incident. Tom has gone racing in like this many times. I only hope he will recover fully.
Agree with that assessment. He was just caught in the follow through as Olsson had cleared the ball and obv didn't see TC charging in. I thought maybe he'd caught his ankle in the mud at first...can't see him playing again for us.
From the BBC- The relegation-threatened hosts looked set to claim a vital win after Danny Graham's superb long-range strike with only five minutes left to play. But Brunt latched onto RYAN NOBLE'S header to convert in the last minute of added time to keep Roberto Di Matteo's side on track for automatic promotion.
seem like he popped his knee out by the way he fell and could have damaged anything in there.....dale has come straight in with 2 solid performances champion stuff. anyone know wot harry had for breakfast...manic man with a drum lol
Just got back. Gutted to lose 3 very special points in a game we dominated basically all of. You could honestly just tell that Watford were going to let a goal in when the 6 mins got added. Dale Bennett - Give that boy a pay rise, bloody brilliant with no experience, chucked in the deep end and handled everything. Didn't think Demerit was bad today. Cowie was average, bit better than what he's recently been like. Also saw a few players after the match and asked about Cleverleys injury, all of them said its not as bad as expected.
Hm..Not sure what was worse. WBA nicking that late equaliser or seeing yet more players either get injured or sent off. :forehead: 2 decent performances over the weekend...we deserved much more. Nice goal by Graham!
:sign15: Demerit was very good today and how people question his commitment after some games is beyond me. I would say him and eustace "play with his heart of his sleeves" for a lot of there games but always show fight. :sign15: And per f***ing usual with mariappa and also missing a big chance in the first half Is that sarcasm him being a right midfielder?? He doesnt run with it ever, doesnt ever take his man on and also cant pass a ball at all.
Yeah it is. But when he does run with it, he can beat a man, and has shown he's got a decent cross on him
