I’m joking, but it wouldn’t surprise me if that protest was actually a publicity stunt. I mean, what better way to stick it to this brand new gambling company than getting them plastered all over prime time news, whilst simultaneously telling everyone when they’ll get their U.K. licence and how to get round that in the meantime.

Strange video for this one - we have about a minute of filler before we get a glimpse of the kit. Looks decent though, I quite like a red away kit if we’re sticking to yellow + black for the home colour combo.

It's a rather nice away kit.

Definitely better than the home kit.

 

But yet again, looks bloody awful with that gigantic eyesore sponsor.

 

If I buy it I'll ask for a sponsor free one.

Kelme are my favourite kit supplier for Watford, the kits don’t just feel like templates. The leaked pictures really didn’t do the kits justice.

Much better than it looked in Foster's video. All red kits look a bit crap though imo. As in a kit that is all red...

 

Clear winners are the GK kits if we can get that sponsor off.

Still think that the digital check in yellow and black would have been a great design. Missed a trick.

 

People do know there's almost no chance of a sponsor-free version being made available for adults, right? So far the only basis for the idea is a throwaway comment by AL in one of his articles. The club haven't actively promoted that and I'd be quite surprised if their agreement with the sponsor lets them sell replica shirts that way.

 

I love that people think that without the sponsor their XXXXL shirt will be elevated to the peak of sartorial elegance.

Not that I care either way. Don’t like any of them, with or without the sponsor. Not really liked any of our kits since the promotion season under Jokanovic.

Puma continually struck gold IMO.

Last season Watford sold them right at the end of the season in the sale, I wonder if that's how they got around the rule..

 

Do they have to or do they do it through choice? I suspect they do it because they think there's enough market there to justify it and it's part of their agreement with Betway.

They wouldn't do it by choice and Betway definitely wouldn't allow it, so i'm not really sure what the rule is.

 

Why wouldn't they do it by choice if there is a big enough market for it?

I imagine any sponsor in the PL is there for the TV exposure - not because Betway want to get the marginal audience who see Clive wandering through Westfield in his XXXXL West Ham shirt and thought they would sign up to Betway and have a flutter on the nags.

 

My guess is it's demand-led and if experience since 2015 has taught them they can sell another 5,000 shirts just by ditching the Betway logo I suspect there's a way they'd be able to convince Betway to allow it. Probably by cutting them in the profit in some way. And as @Burnsy suggests, Betway aren't going to gain much from the brand exposure.

Whereas at little old Watford it's probably going be worth a couple of hundred extra shirt sale and Stake.com are very clearly in this to get their brand recognised in the UK.

We'll see what happens anyway. My gut feeling is an unsponsored version won't be made available but I could be wrong.

 

Extreme 'meh'.

A shame we have managed not to get an interesting design between the shirts, after purposefully switching to a far smaller company in search of a more interesting design.

A month or two ago when Leventhal was teasing the next designs, he said we should expect either another 'bold' or 'eye-catching' design. What we didn't realise at the time was that he was talking purely about the sponsor.

Sleeve Sponsor seems to be someone who’s logo is a pink/peach/light gold colour….

 

My mate works for Betway and they don't even let West ham use images with old kit's in and if they do they have to photoshop the old sponsor's out. I know for a fact that Betway wouldn't allow the non-sponsored kit if they didn't have to.

 

Good insight. Well it's a bit of a mystery then, as I would have thought the football authorities/PL etc would have been shouting from the rooftops about this rule every time they get criticised for allowing gambling sponsors on football shirts? Your post about it is honestly the first I've heard of it.

 

I have an email from the shop saying that. Doesnt mean it cant be backed out of sure, but they have def said it.
