Still confused as to why King (who has scored 12 out of his 14 PL penalties) wasn't first choice. Hopefully next time Sarr is no where near it.
I can't imagine what it's like finding out at 11 that your (most kids' dream) boyhood is going to come true. He's also always been pretty cool with his ex-school mates - must be a 'Wood thing as we don't like anyone.
I haven't posted since the match as I've been busy since. There's not much to add that hasn't been said so far but on the topic of Sarr's penalties, I remember the one he scored against Millwall for our promotion, it was an awful penalty despite going in, at least when Deeney missed some a few years back he rectified it by changing his style a bit. What a monster Dennis is? I'm a bit peeved that he couldn't keep his shirt on and would have avoided an unnecessary yellow card. The midfield without Kucka was much stronger, and despite people's misgivings, I think Cleverley's solid head has shown that we have been better this season with him in the team than without. Finally, as for Moss, someone posted his stats for our matches in comparison to other refs and we were obviously dreading another typical Moss display. Yet he didn't really get anything of note wrong, I know for the penalty not booking the defender was strange but had not qualms in sending off Maguire.
That was by far the fairest match he’s officiated Watford in. But even in that game he avoids booking McTominay, which may have led to a red card, as he was booked later on, and that was a mandatory yellow card offence. He also awarded us a corner then blew his whistle for half time so we couldn’t take it. That, in itself, is extremely rare. Most officials allow the corner to be taken and will blow once it has been cleared. But he correctly awarded a penalty after playing an advantage for Dennis’ dreadful miss. He got the two yellow’s right on Maguire, which are things he could have avoided if he was in “cheat mode”. Overall he was fair and handled the match without prejudice.
Sarr's penalty against Millwall actually bobbled just before he hit it, so I wouldn't have a go at him for that at all! I think he hit 3 from 3 last season, but certainly we should have our main striker King taking them from now on
Interesting on Ref Watch, Demott Gallagher thought McTominay should have been sent off for the penalty challenge. The rules state last man, striker had the ball under control and no covering defender. He didn't even get a yellow card!!

The sage that is Garth Crooks has picked two Watford players in his Team of the Week: Cleverley and Dennis. Here is his laughable assessment of the latter in full. Emmanuel Dennis: "At the moment we are in a very difficult situation," said De Gea in his post-match interview. "We don't know what to do with the ball, we don't know how to defend properly." What a terrible indictment of the Manchester United coaching staff. When a player is prepared to come on national TV and be so scathing of his team's performance, it can only mean one thing and that is the end of the manager. And so it proved. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's departure was inevitable. The arrival of Ronaldo only served to paper over the cracks, while the arrival of Claudio Ranieri might actually save Watford. Meanwhile, Emmanuel Dennis looks the part and might be as big a star in the Africa Cup of Nations for Nigeria in January as he was against United.
He just uses that team of the week to give his opinion on a team/issue/manager. Don’t think a lot of thought goes into it.
Yes. A cynic might fleetingly wonder if at least some of the Utd players chucked that match to force the hand of the Utd board. De Gea, despite his halting, cheek-puffing, surface-apology interview, made his position on the team's organisation pretty clear.
FOUR Goals v Man United | Inside Matchday | Watford 4-1 Manchester United - Watford FC This is great. Really enjoyed watching the Behind the Scenes editing.
Thanks for posting. My favorite part of that video is about 2 minutes in, seconds after kick-off, when Dennis needlessly runs into McTominay for no reason other than to just be a bit of a ****. Good lad.
I enjoyed Dennis rolling around in agony only to get up and sprint down the line once we won the ball back. Some people will call it cheating but opposition players have been doing it for years so why not join them. I'm glad we've got a few sh!thouses in the team in Dennis, Kucka and Rose.
It’s odd, because it used to annoy the hell out of me when Richarlison did it for us, but I really found it funny when Dennis did it on Saturday. Go figure.
Hope the heart monitor stood up to the game! Get well soon, let's hope we all get a bit more to cheer going forward even if from afar.
I think Masina should be given an honorary assist for the first goal, if he doesn't block off Sancho, no way Dennis gets the time to cut the ball back to King.
I gave the Tifo podcast a listen this morning as they were talking about the game and Solskjaer. The word Watford was mentioned twice and they managed to name Sarr once. King wasn't so lucky, when talking about the penalty he was called "the player that McTominay brought down". I don't know why I bother with those podcasts. I know they're aimed for the dribbling masses who just want to hear about the Top 6, but I thought as Tifo have done some decent YouTube videos on us they might give us some credit.
You aren’t the target audience for discussing the game. That’s Man Utd fans. No media reporting on this game will give a second thought to Watford.
Are you talking about the moment CR7 died in the 2nd half. Then got up and ran off not even rubbing his back.
It's interesting that formationwise we played with King down the left and Dennis through the middle although they did interchange a few times and one of those times was for the penalty and another time was for the first goal. It looks like they are both striking up a very good understanding between each other.
