If klopp was British he'd be fired by now. I think Brenda had a far superior record over the same time at Liverpool.

Rodgers did have one of the best players in the world in Suarez, and Sturridge fit and firing though.

Is it bad that I've only just realised Capoue didn't play?

I think he'll be gone before the end of the window. Doesn't fit the system and doesn't have the work rate Silva seems to expect of his players.

Watched game at 2.00am when I got in from a day out, so yes possibly blurred view. But, great entertaining football from us which is one of the main things for me always. Point v liverpool great stuff.

Britos offside position but ball was kicked backwards, I'm sure it then clips the Liverpool defender sending it forwards, then the GK decides to push it even further forwards and then Britos scores. Fair goal by the laws of the game, no luck here so we will save that for another game!

The irony is, if he got defensive he might win something. Two seasons and couple hundred million later his defence is probably 10th best in the league.

I'm glad it was offside (if it was) as it's even more of a kick in Klopp's oversized teeth than if it had been a legitimate goal snatching two points away at the death.

Look back on the replay. It's acutally a poor pass by Cleverley in fairness to Amrabat, but neither Amrabat or Moreno are tackling the other. Both are merely trying to get to the ball. You may be right in that it's Amrabat who gets the touch (it's very difficult to tell and I think both of them got it), but it is little more than a poke that Doucouré happened to be there to mop up. It was not hold up play by Amrabat nor was it purposeful playing Doucouré through. It was good effort but those who insist on giving Amrabat credit for things he didn't actually do are just baffling to me.

Also, I am sick of this nonsense accusation that ''anything this bloke does isn't going to be good enough for many''. If he was good then I'd be cheering him on alongside everyone else. If he scored a hat trick then I would say keep him on. If he started playing excellently in his winger position I'd be delighted. But he isn't excellent, he's terrible. The more accurate statement is no matter how bad Amrabat plays, people will defend him.

He isn't terrible that's total ********. I agree hes one of the weaker members of our team but he gives it his all and contributes to the team. He'll probably be replaced but until then don't get on his back

Also, and sorry to double post, but I haven't a clue how Britos is possibly offside.

Take this scenario. A striker is played through onside and is running towards goal with all the defenders well behind him. At the same time, his strike partner beats the centre backs for pace and is alongside him, also with the defenders well behind him. The striker with the ball runs up to the keeper and squares the ball to his partner as the keeper comes out, the second striker taps home. Is the second striker offside? Of course not.

How is this scenario different from Britos's goal? Both Richarlison and Britos are past the Liverpool defenders. Only Mingolet is between them and the goal. So if you think of Richarlison's touch as a pass, Britos is surely like the second striker in my example. Can anyone explain why this is not the case?

It does clip the Liverpool player on the way through. Everything hinges on whether or not Britos interfered with the GK. The officials did not see anything wrong which is good enough for me. Klopp claiming our second goal is also offside is utter garbage. Even their fans are getting disgruntled with him which will only increase when Coutinio leaves for Barcelona.

In your example if the recieving player gets is ahead of the ball when the pass is made, hes offside. If he's behind the ball he is onside. The situation is only confused by the law stating any part of the receiving player (excluding arms) being ahead of the ball is offside. So if britos has a big toe ahead of the ball, hes offside.

In effect the above means what everyone thinks, you cant be offside if the pass is level or backwards. But its not how it's worded.

Because in your scenario striker 2 is behind the ball when it is played . Britos was in front of the ball even though it was kicked sideways (marginally).

The ball going forward or not is irrelevant. If Britos had been in line with ball then no offside.

Bang on, did Britos interfere is the whole point. He did no more than lean into Minolet, I've seen this penalised but not usually with such minimal contact ... so the question then becomes did Britos block Minolet's path either physically or visually? ... He was no more than level so I say not at all.

Having now read a number of reports and quotes from various people regarding the game - it's interesting to see that the actual truth to what the match was really like is now starting to get re-written in Liverpool's favour....

    Sadio Mane:
'We're disappointed because we deserved to win,' he told Liverpool's official website
(Deserved, based on 20/25 mins of the second half. We'll ignore the other 65 mins then...)

'We should have defended better in this kind of game, it's always complicated with long balls.
(Are corners long balls now? And remind me how you scored your third? Oh I see - that was a long pass, totally different...)

'This can happen in football. With all due respect to Watford, we should have won, we were the better team. But it's football. We'll accept it, forget it and try to be ready for the next game.'
(For 25 mins, Sadio. A game is 90 mins. I guess your whole teams first half no-show doesn't count? With all due respect to Liverpool - we should have won that game considering how bad their defence is. See - we can say that as well;)).

So Amrabat is our new boo boy...his decision making is not great which is hugely frustrating but he gives 110% for 90 minutes every time he plays. For that reason I will support him for as long as he plays for us until he is replaced by a superior player.

That used to be the Watford way...

It looked to me that Liverpool played more long ball and aimless punts than we did. Or were they cultured passes?

I’ve tried to analyse our defensive performance from Saturday just to try and understand where our problems lie.

I’m trying to be constructive and pointing out areas which need to improve.

Our shape wasn’t too bad, but it seems to be individual errors and positional deficiencies which are our underlying problem.

Although Britos was the hero at the end, he appears to have made the most defensive errors. Holebas made the second most.

This actually surprised me as I had the impression both Femenia and Kaboul were more at fault than the other two.

I do not blame anyone for the first Liverpool goal. It was a very good move, with quick sharp passing. Sometimes you just hold your hands up and say well done to the opposition.

37 minutes. Holebas makes a mess of trying to cut out a pass from Firmino and the ball goes straight to Salah. He’s allowed to run and get as close as 10 yards to our goal before he blasts over. A very bad miss and should have been a goal.

45 +2. From a corner Mane beats Britos in the air but heads the ball just wide.

    53. A good move by Liverpool as Firmino’s clever flick puts Salah through. But Britos' body was turned the wrong way and he did not track Salah’s run. This leads to the penalty.

56 minutes. This one is the worse of the lot. Lovren receives the ball midway in his own half, but there’s no pressing. He has all the time in the world to pick a pass. Three Watford defenders hold their line, but Britos drops deep. This results in Firmino being onside and through on goal. He lobs Gomes and the ball is bundled in for the Liverpool third goal.

63 minutes. A cross field ball finds Moreno and he bounces the ball over Femenia. Femenia turns but is very weak in his attempted clearance, getting his body shape totally wrong. This allows Moreno a free shot which Gomes tips over.

64 minutes. From the resultant corner, Gray does not cut out the ball at the near post, and Kaboul gets beaten in the air. The ball hits the cross bar.

69 minutes. Another corner is poorly defended. Richalison misses the ball at the near post and two Liverpool are ahead of their makers allowing a free header which Gomes does well to save and the ball is scrambled away to safety.

70 minutes. Moreno is allowed to run too far unchallenged to the edge of our penalty area. He chips the ball across where Salah is totally unmarked. Holebas has left his post moving into the middle leaving Salah free, but he fires a powerful shot over the bar.

76 minutes. Watford are backpedalling during a Liverpool attack. Mane was allowed to play a simple through ball to Salah. Holebas again at fault by not tracking back and was unaware of Salah’s run behind him. He only had Gomes to beat but fortunately steered the ball wide.

I remember Britos also made a horrible slice clearance which started another Liverpool attack, but luckily that came to nothing.

Liverpool only had three corners, but we were beaten to the ball every time, which underlines how poor we still are at defending crosses. Liverpool had three headers, two just wide and the other was saved by Gomes.

Holebas sometimes is unaware of the runner behind him and tends to get moved out of position.

Britos has a habit of breaking the defensive line by dropping deep. This leaves us stranded as a through ball can leave the forward onside. This allowed Liverpool to score their third goal.

So I have to conclude our problems seem to stem from personnel making too many basic errors rather than tactics, and it is the same individuals making the same errors.

91 goals from 47 games, is far too many.

I'd go further. Last season I lost all track of what the purpose of a head coach actually was. Apart from encouraging supporters to lose the will to live. Now it's very apparent again what that role is and with a number of new options available that we can all debate.

All the major cogs are in place again with just some fine tuning needed. It's going to be a great season.

Personally my least favourite moment of his that I remember wasn't the penalty.

It was his failing to come out off his line when Britos was shielding the ball. It put unnecessary pressure on us and was a really poor bit of goalkeeping/ communication.

Thank you. I have no idea why people think that Kaboul is slow. Maybe his physique. It was pretty obvious why he was picked, and he dealt with Sane and Mane well, given the lack of protection given by the full backs (Holebas in the second half especially).

Well surely then Silva must be looking for players who do not work hard then, as no Watford player ran further last season, and only 4 or 5 did in the whole league.

He might be ****, but he busts a gut for the team.
