City destroyed Watford in the Carabao Cup with their reserves. I cannot see this being a giant killing though, and City will probably run out comfortable winners. They are a team that play as a team. We need to concentrate on league matters, so a defeat tomorrow will actually be a good thing. Games mean injuries to Watford, so fewer games, should reduce the injury risk.
Yes - Capoue scored then they got 2 quick goals plus one at the end. One was like Lingard's for Man U where we let someone run for yards and score. They won't want a replay so will come to win and with fringe players maybe something to prove. Mind you not sure it would be a giant killing if we won!
This time tomorrow night I will be either: A. We could get to the semis with a decent few draws and a good run... Or B. Probably best we are out as need to concentrate on the league. Happy either way!
Just back from walking the dog along Tolpits Lane near the King George V playing fields and bumped into a few BC fans who noticed my top and wished me all the best for the game today. Nice to see generally pleasant opposition fans. BTW I can’t sleep so took the dog out instead. I’m going to try to sleep now... warm milk perhaps.
Brizzle have never forgiven us for stealing the title off them in League 1 when they choked. Essentially they are an older version of Bournemouth. We will draw 2-2 and add a pointless replay which will be on TV and we will play *****
I'd give the Greek bloke a game in goal and also give Richarlison the week off as a break I'd also give Success and Cathcart half a game if they are up to it
Make no mistake, this is the biggest game of this, or any other season. We must play a fill strength side and even risk some of our recovering stars, by playing them early. I'd like to see this line up. Gomes Kiko Kaboul Cathcart DjeDje Chalobah Doucoure Zarate Pereyra Richarlison Okaka Gray Let's go for this!!!!! yoooooou Oooorns!!! Take some chances. No risk, no reward.
Going today Hopefully I'm not sat next to European football tourists again Last week cahoont thought his seat was a a sofa I'm surprised he didn't lay across me
Not worried at all if we lose this. We haven't got the strength in depth for a cup run. I'd like to see Cathcart get a run out, and for Deeney and Gray to get a game together as centre-forward and striker, which is how they're equipped to play. If we get through, great. If we don't, I won't lose any sleep.
I would like to see us play a 3-5-2 with Deeney and Gray the front 2. We don’t seem to have a striker who can play up front on their own so would be good to see if these two can play together. I presume Bristol will make a lot of changes so going for a comfortable 2-0 win. Cup run would be nice
Prediction: 52nd minute, Bristol fans chant, “ can we play you every week?” After going 2-0 up Silva’s Post match comments after being dumped out of the cup. “ in this moment, it is normal “
Only 3 changes from Tuesday. Cleverley, Pereyra and Deeney come in to replace Watson, Richarlison and Gray who are all on the bench. Strong team - still somehow make a meal of it of course.
Gray should be starting this he will never get going if he constantly gets dropped when Deeney is available.
Totally agree. A game Watson should play (unless preventing being cup tied), Doucoure should get a rest too, why play Gomez, keep Grey on to give him consistency and confidence. At least Wague and Kabs are getting game time together.
watfordfc XI v @bcfctweets | Gomes (GK); Janmaat, Wagué, Kabasele, Zeegelaar; Cleverley, Doucouré; Carrillo, Capoue, Pereyra; Deeney (C). Subs | Karnezis (GK), Pr*dl, Holebas, Watson, Richarlison, Gray, Okaka.
At least at 10 with Doucs and Cleverley behind him, Capoue's incredible laziness won't be as ruinous because it's not his responsibility to defend through the middle to the same extent. Glad Richy is out, though I don't think he should even be on the bench; hope he doesn't come on. Surprised by Deeney being back, wonder whether that's about his lower league effectiveness, an attempt to keep him happy and manage his playing time, or he really just thinks he's the best striker we have. Also glad as I predicted( ) Wague and Kabs are partners at the back again today, every match at this stage greatly increases the proportion of time they've played together and gives the best chance of forming a real partnership. Overall it's as strong a team as we could field, almost. Guess Silva wants to try and win...
Also it must get boring for all foreign managers to constantly have to pay lip service to the incredible fame and wonder of the FA Cup every time it rolls around. Maybe just stop asking them about it in that context.
If this team can’t put in a performance against a second string Bristol team then I’ll start moaning. We’ll start well I bet but not score and they’ll grow into the game. Guarantee it.
Feeling optimistic about this one. Anyone remember the game when Deeney came back from the wilderness (prison) and produced a stormer? It was against Bristol City if I remember correctly. He's never looked back. Will be happy for a repeat today! Watford 3-4 Bristol City Deeney (22, 28, 45+2); Deeney (og 88, 90+1, 90+2, 90+4)
