With this particular case, it's the sheer hypocrisy of it all that's making me nauseous. No problem with using football for good because it can do a lot of good and help bring positive change but all this gesture politics is so boring.
I wouldn't be surprised if Gino has flown to Ukraine to try and get some Dynamo or Shakhtar players on the cheap. He's not one for sentimentality.
I stand corrected. I’ll just go t’ut sports pub @ midday and wait with a few beers all afternoon. KO and final whistle time irrelevant as it’s all drinking time... Enjoy the game
It says "It is understood that Mr Watford was born in 1955 in then Russian Ukraine but moved to the UK in the early 2000s." Surely they mean Soviet Ukraine?
I won’t be going. I can’t justify 90+ minutes travel each way to want nothing more than to leave after 60 minutes. One of my mates can have my ticket. Sorry if that makes me a bad fan.
And to think there are people on this board who claim to be true fans of this club without even half this man's dedication.
A draw wouldn't be a disaster, as long as we look like we have a chance of winning and aren't hanging on like at Old Trafford. Need King to score, or him to be dropped in place of Pedro to make him fight for his place. A loss and it's pretty much curtains (this time I'm not going to draw a direct comparison between this season and the 2007/08 Fulham side, because although they lost their next two games having picked up the same number of points at the same stage and still stayed up, they did it with only 36 points - I'm pretty sure it's going to be more this season).
If we are serious about staying up, we need to be winning this to payback for all the home defeats to weaker teams recently. A draw wouldn’t be a bad result on a standalone basis but it wouldn’t be enough in our situation.
Arsenal are one of the most inform teams at the moment, we tend to specialise in helping out of form teams get back on track so maybe the opposite sort of thing will happen.
**** club that wanted to join the Super League? Check! Recent history of cheating against us? Check! Very irritating fans? Check! Really hope we stuff this lot. Would take almost as much pleasure in their misery as in our victory.
Well, curtains pretty much = disaster. Therefore it makes sense to say one point isn't a disaster. And I feel the difference being losing and drawing will be more than just the one point come the end of the season, especially if we play well - to lose eight home games on the bounce could be really detrimental to the team's confidence, to the extent that our away results and performances may start matching (or come very close to) our home ones, whereas even one point in a good spirited team performance that stops the rot against a really good team (even if weak by Arsenal standards) could give the team some much-needed belief and signal to themselves and the fans that all hope is not lost.
In no way does that make you a bad fan. Look at how poorly we have been playing at home this season. Palarse and Norwich were pathetic. Nobody is going to begrudge you for not going and possibly wasting money and time especially if the trip is long. We could win - which would be a total shock on recent form. Supporting them from afar is just as good as supporting them in the stadium.
