Holebas has always had a flawed personality and in any case is past his sell by date.

It is not ALL about attitude, otherwise no player would require motivation by his manager. Ozil is generally recognised as one off the best players in the world, but in half the matches for Arsenal he is anonymous and fails to track back. Would you get rid of him? Even Sanchez has games where he doesn't give his all.

Loving the amateur psychology on this thread.

The problem is injuries and suspensions happening to key players, coupled with certain players being not up to the job, or suffering an horrendous lack of form.

Trying to play quick counter attacking football whilst being forced to field Watson instead of Doucoure, Capoue instead of Hughes/Chalobah, Janmaat instead of Kiko, and Deeney, Sinclair and Gray instead of a clinical striker is the real reason why we're on a losing streak.

The ridiculous, childish situation with Okaka and Silva is just the cherry on top.

I respectfully disagree with you. It IS all about attitude. Without it, doesn't matter how good the player is. If he can't be bothered, he's worthless to the team.

Do Burnley have better technical players than Watford? Nope, but their collective attitude is miles better. They get the most of their players.

We have too many that are just not up for the fight on a regular basis, and it tends to spreads throughout the side. Weed these players out, and others tend to respond likewise. When you see Doucoure, Cleverley, Chalobah do the work of two men, then others try that little bit harder.

When you see players not bothering 100%, then others think, why should I bother. This is why I admire Dourcoure so much, because no matter what the team is doing, he cares enough about his own performance and goes the extra mile.

Got to be honest , yes if they went missing for whole matches, no if they went missing for 1/2 a match and then scored the winner.

I kind of think it is all about attitude (a modicum of skill is obviously a given) it’s why the England squad are so bad they don’t think they have anything to prove or play for. If holebas ran his little socks of , looked visabily upset when we lost and still made the same number of mistakes he would come in for a lot of criticism. This is why everybody loves Gomes , yes he makes mistakes but no one could accuse him of not having passion .

I think we're gonna win today and change the whole narrative.

So you are saying Ozil is useless because he doesn't give his all every game?

Wow. That is a statement line up.

Silva telling Gino that he needs a striker and badly. Rich through the middle or Pereyra false nine.

If this arrogant line up doesn't work then Silva is going to get it from a lot on here but I have to say Rich is probably more capable of playing upfront than the other two.

Mariappa completely out the squad? And Hughes gone from nearly ready to not even fit enough for the bench. Classic Watford.

5:00pm will tell us if Silva is a clown messing with our club or a genius.
I think sadly it’s the former and he will be lucky to be here in January.

Don't see what the problem is. Okaka is out of favour and clearly unable to do 90 mins and Gray has been ***** so why not stick Richarlison through the middle, he's quick and good in the air. And Wague can't be any worse than Prodl has been plus he's quicker.

Delighted with that line up, especially considering Gray has been dropped, we will actually score today without him.

Agree, Okaka probably isn't match fit, Gray is a flop and Sinclair is League one quality. Richarlison is great in the air, he can hold the ball up, can actually control the ball and can take on a player. Hope it pays off for Marco.

Much as I love Richarlison, my player of the season so far, he has missed a lot of sitters recently and most of those chances have been provided by his scintillating wing play and crosses

At least he gets in those positions though, unlike gray and Deeney

    That line up is basically...

    ‘I need good centre-backs.’
    ‘I need more wide players.’
    ‘I need better strikers.’

People will likely moan if we lose but at least Silva is trying something different with what he has. Much rather that than the days of QSF and same XI every week.

Agreed, but we have zero to lose here - such a poor run from the players, quite a bit of bad luck with availability through injuries and suspensions already means 3 points in the bag for Leicester. At least Silva is trying to keep them on their toes, give players a chance, and try a different set up instead of running out of ideas.

Why have we nothing to lose? Are they not giving 3 points for a win, and 1 point for a draw for this game?

It’s Eurovision rules. We play and if Paul Merson likes what he sees, we may get 12 points.

Pererya Richie Carrillo is certainly an interesting front line. Plenty of talent, trickery and footballing ability there I reckon.

Something's clearly not quite right with Prodl. We bought the Wagster, so why not give him a run. Can't do worse than we have been doing recently.

Glad to see Ben Watson given another start. Despite the result last time out and despite a dodgy first ten minutes getting up to speed, I thought he gave a decent account of himself. Added some solidity and battling to the midfield.

    Richarlison leading the line?

If that's what Silva's gone for, I think it could be a shrewd one.

Watson and Doucoure is interesting. I quite like the look of it actually, which probably means it won't work now I've said that, but it's a better shield than Cleverly and Doucoure, and should theoretically give the attacking midfielders license and confidence to get up and support Rich better than they've done for Gray and Troy recently.
