I don't have a problem with how players talk to the referee, same as I don't care if a player persistently fouls or dives. The problem I have is when a referee is so pathetic they either don't punish said player or worse, cave in. There are clear rules and guidelines on players' conduct towards a referee, same as there are for diving or fouling. If the referee chooses not to enforce these rules and guidelines, he/she isn't fit to officiate.
Except I said it was dangerous, as in a combination of reckless & uncontrolled....it was also likely to cause potentially more serious damage than Ake's. My point remains valid...the ref's interpretation of the 2 incidents was inconsistent & therefore flawed.
Funny thing about the tackle was that from the away fans POV at the game - which is the one behind Ake - it was a nothing. There was no massive outcry from their end, no baying for a sending off because Ake's foot was not aimed towards Lamela. The angle it looks bad at is foreshortened as we look face on. The refs position. From what we know of Ake it's simply not his game - he's competitive, but rarely fouls. In the end not why we lost - it didn't seem to help them much. Our day will come - lots more of them.
Feels good seeing Prodl back in the Watford shirt. I hope Quique finds a way to give him some more game time.
Stupid Spud Billy, any chance of replying to the comparisons in #253, Clive of the Kremlin, the clear evidence of the offside in the winning goal, the clear evidence of the fouls in the box on Ighalo & Cathcart? Or is it all way beyond your clearly challenged intellect?
You'd have to feel confident of any of the two out of the three CB's. Cathcart has made a couple of recent errors, but he's so involved it hardly seems an issue. Fatigue and injury may decide, but Prodl should get a run out in the cup I would have thought.
How does " maybe, just maybe it's the closest club to me right now " mean " if you were to move, you would support whichever big team is closest to me " ?? Please explain Dopey.. Also can yo send me the rule book which states that you have to support the team closest to where you were born..Or is it in the same rule book that says Ake's challenge wasn't a red card?? You're swell..
Ah damn it you broke my code.. I tried my hardest to cover up my name but you worked it out you super detective you..I never in a million years thought that anyone would work out the SS part of my name.. Busted..
Or, if I was born a few miles from WHL and my family were all Spurs fans then it made perfect sense to carry on the tradition no?? At the time, I forgot to get my tape measure out and I certainly forgot to write to the Watford fans and ask if it was OK if I chose Spurs.. I must apologise and in future I'll remember to run any of my decisions by you all..
I think one things for sure, you've spent long enough on this forum to qualify as Watford Fan now Billy, who knows supporting us may mean you get to see your first live football match.
Jumped to this page from page 23, as was getting bored with the "banter"/arguing with Spurs fan, only to find it's still going on 10 pages later! One thing I would say; I expect slagging off of opposition fans on here to an extent but criticising a fanbase for celebrating an 89th minute winner is scraping the barrel, even for a partisan forum. If Watford score in the 89th minute, do I stop and consider whether we've scored against 10 or 11 men, or whether there might have been a hint of offside about the goal, and temper my celebration accordingly? Do I ****, and neither do any of you. So, by all means, come up with some other ways to whinge about Spurs fans but not because they celebrated a late winner.
Just thought i'd clear it up before someone said "super spaz" or the like.... The amount of air time you got from the original post is rather special though.

Spud fans calling Watford a ****hole lol They burnt their own town it was that ***cin ugly I feel sorry for their intelligence
This doesn't surprise me. The most closest-to-London Spurs fan I know lives in Stevenage. In fact I don't think I've ever met a Londoner who supports Spurs unless you count Middlesex/Enfield.
Not quite as good as the referee caught between two stools quote, but I still like this one from the Wobby today:- "Troy Deeney – Watford’s captain – was booked for descent." Must be another one of those new-fangled Adrian Durham rules. Going up, you're OK.....
SS Billy I looked on the spurs forum a few days ago before we played you, and you were on there slagging us off something chronic on there (I take it the SS is south stand as in South Stand billy) You obviously had an issue with us before the game .
SS Billy - Since you've ignored my last questions, here's another for you. When choosing your username, did you give any consideration or thought to the fact that it may be insensitive? You know, what with Tottenham having quite a fan base amongst the Jewish community and all. Is "south stand" the only thing with which you associate the initials "SS"?
All the locals down as far as Manor House tube support Spurs. Just not as many can afford the ticket prices the hipsters and plastics can.
I thought the referee had a great game to be fair, typical biased Watford fans with their Elton John tinted glasses.
This is exactly why on a personal level I have a particular dislike of Spurs fans, I'm mid thirties so I got into football around Italia 90, lineker, Gazza etc. I went to school in leafy Surrey and for most of the other kids the (in their mind) acceptable alternative to being a complete and utter glory hunter and supporting Man utd was supporting Spurs instead. 25 years later I'm still putting up with their utter drivel on Facebook every time Spurs win so much as a corner, yet you don't seem to get that from supporters of just about any other club.
