Hoping for a win. Dreaming of a perfect Assombalonga hat-trick (left foot cross deflected in, right foot off the crossbar then in off the goalies' backside, accidental back header while looking the other way)
You just know that someone at Watford forgot to put the clause in about Fletcher not playing against us, and he'll score the winner.
Hoping that now we have successfully surpassed the 50 points mark, we can play some of the U18s for this one
True. If any impress we could pick up a few £250ks in compensation from the prem league clubs who whisk them away. "Every little helps".
The Brum match was very open and the score-line was one-sided because Birmingham had the worst strikers this side of Mars. The key to Wilder Success is for the attack to continue with faster, better, confident moves culminating in a shot or header every time. But the midfield defending needs to tighten up. Surely bottom-placed Wigan present a big opportunity to consolidate that.
Sarr may well be fit, but Wilder did say nobody has a right to be selected. So there is a chance he has shown nothing in training to suggest he should be picked. It's only one of a few possibilities mind.
Ashley Fletcher. Admittedly he's not very good at that putting the ball in the net thing, but he has been playing regularly for them of late.
On the other hand, by not picking him today he keeps him fresh (if there is a fitness issue) and allows him more time to be ready and available for 2 weeks time!
Agree with the unchanged lineup but would be interested to know why sarr isn’t even in the squad Making a point or injured ??
I dont see where he fits into Wilders system though. Would rather we didnt play him than stick him somewhere he cant play.
I thought they said the injury wasn't too serious and he could have played on Tuesday, but seeing as he isn't even in the squad, I imagine he's not fit now, it's not as if it's unusual for us for someone to return to fitness far later than anticipated!
It was said in shoutbox that it's a bit scrappy stop start.. my take is that we are having a go at playing the ball forward that we were not before. My complaint under Bilic and Edwards was keeping the ball is pointless if we don't ever try a through ball more than once a game.
Wilder going with Davis and Assambalonga is a bold move in the race for ‘most immobile Championship strike force of all time’.
