No doubt the usual head in the sand apologists will come back and say it was a correct decision and that it was probably a dive by Deeney.
Here's the Sheff Wed goal: https://twitter.com/RichardGShore/status/594526118826356737 Tozser and Watson both going for the same ball was the mistake. Swap one of them for a centreback and it's cleared in my opinion.
In light of today's results and the fact that Proberk blew up early, preventing another likely Wednesday goal, the Sand of God looks pretty massive right now.
It's such a clear pen and red for the keeper.Deeney never dives why would he just fall down when he would of just rounded the keeper and scored. The pictures don't lie this guy should never be aloud to ref another Watford game ever again.
That's a real sickening moment. The guy didn't even hit it right and it bounced over Gomes. It always surprises me at how much delight the opposition get from denying another club a fabulous moment. If it was the other way around, would not begrudge anyone a promotion or a league title, especially if it was a nothing match for us. Leeds was the same, they did everything they could to stop us winning. I have a friend that supports Leeds home and away and he told me that was the hardest they tried all season. Must be a Yorkshire mentality.....to revel in the misery of others as it's the only chance they get of a modicum of importance these days. Don't forget Wednesday are "massive", so must be hard for them seeing other clubs getting things they can only dream of.
I really won't miss these bitter fans of massive clubs. ''AFC Bournemouth - they're top of the league''. Embarrassing.
Take a bow moron. You cost your club the title. Name and shame (not talking about Ighalo and Deeney here!!)
Looks like the saddest, fattest, ugliest little virgin nerd. I'm never this mean but he totally ruined the day.
Aside from Captain Dumbfu*k's stupid antics, the fact that both Deeney and Ighalo got to him before the stewards and police is an absolute disgrace. There is no excuse for that.
I have to agree. They just stood there and watched. The guy was hanging around behind the goal for a while and it was obvious what his intentions were. Then he went on the pitch and again no one reacted to it. It was left to the players to do something about it, which is totally unacceptable. Even in the photo, the steward is just standing there watching it all as a bystander.
I agree. It is a very unpleasant characteristic in some people and doesn't only extend to Yorkshire I'm sorry to say. Some people just don't like others to do well.
There's no doubt it caused a distraction and there could have been a loss of concentration. Is it a coincidence that we conceded immediately afterwards? Looks to me minds were on other things momentarily....but it was enough to allow them to score.
I know....I mentioned Yorkshire because of the Leeds-Wednesday connection, but you could say that about all the big city sides. Fans of sides like this are incredibly jealous of smaller clubs doing well. Had we played a club with a similar background to us, I'm sure there would be a lot more humility and understanding within their support.
I'd say having a (possibly drunken) fan run onto the pitch in the dying moments and hug the goalkeeper and club captain certainly counts as a "distraction". Wednesday scored immediately afterwards off the restart of play. It doesn't seem too much of a stretch to assume the players might have been distracted by the possibility of another incursion.
It doesn't only extend to football but other walks of life I think. Many people took great delight in bad mouthing Henman/Murray/Jo Durie for losing and they were top 5 players in the world. Shows a shrivelled, pea of a heart.
100% offside from the build up play to wednesdays goal aswell.Thats two big decisions gone against us.How was this bloke aloud to ref this game? What a complete **** hope he is not aloud to ref again.
Well it could be worse - might have lost 3-0 at home and gone out of the play-offs.. Was a flat 2nd half on and off the pitch - should've have wrapped it up in the 1st half and maybe should've had a penalty? Typical of the Championship really - remember only last week we benefited from late goals. "Clem" from the FLS was there I noticed - always seems to be a bad luck charm. Doesn't take the shine too much off a great and successful season - afterall there will be a few others clubs looking at us with green envy. BTW Come on Brentford!
We've got something that not even Newcastle United has.....and that's a guaranteed place in the Premier league
You mean like the joyous glee we felt when we shat on Palace's promotion party a few years back? I wrote previously that today's match didn't matter a fig. Absolutely meaningless. Would have been nice to have won a little trophy, but neither here nor there. The important thing was to have won promotion.
It should of been better 100% pen,100% red card,100% Offside = winning the title for the first time in our history. Its over yes we have made it to the prem which is unbelievable, but once again a ref has cost us and this time the title in my opinion. If we scored the pen we would have been 2 up and them down to 10 men.
I just can't believe that. At the end of it all, it's about clearing it, then pushing out, which we did. Nuhiu was offside. The combination of the Mexican wave, fans lining the pitch etc etc though didn't help the final few minutes, no.
