I’d take a narrow and respectable loss right now if I could. Everton have spent >£100m more than us on their squad, and they have Marco Zonal Marking Next Mourinho Silva as their Tag Heuer marketer/ football coach. We, without question, need to be put in our place, but we also need to try to preserve our dignity and our goal difference as best we can. To even grace the pitch with the second best club in Liverpool is a blessing. Watford 0 Huge club with the bestest fans in the whole wide world 6
In all seriousness, who remembers how Silva used to set us up for set pieces? It was an absolute joke. Every single delivery looked like it would result in a goal. I still shudder thinking about it. I cannot believe he is still setting up his team similarly in those situations, a year later, at a club with European ambitions. They’ve spend tens and hundreds of millions. It’s an absolute joke. Has any manager ever got so many decent jobs, being such an absolute laughing stock for the rest of the league? He’s basically a Portuguese Ian Holloway.
Either way it’s a win win for us. Win tomorrow and Everton realise their place in the football world, right next to watford. Lose tomorrow and their fans give it large, giving them the rivalry they so desperately want with us and are trying to create. Thus realising their place in the football world, right next to watford.
With this horse flu, we in the industry need a few people piling extra money on other things for a while.
This will very likely be Silva’s last visit to the vic. We should have a special chant to commemorate this and thank him for his time with us. Something like... Marco Silva the toffee-nosed snake – or – Marco Silva can’t defend for toffee
Kind of bored of the focus on Silva around today's game. This is a big game for us without all that nonsense. There's a bigger picture. This is only our second home game in a run of 8 games that takes us to the end of this month. Winning our home games is likely to be the key to how high we finish, given that 4 of our remaining 6 away games are against Liverpool, City, United and Chelsea. If we win all our (very winnable) home games, we'll have a minimum of 55 points at the end of the season. Last season that would have had us finishing 7th. That's something to aim for. The Best Of The Rest. Maybe Europe. It's something I want. So I don't care about Silva today. Let's support our team and let Silva quietly contemplate the league table at the end of the season.
I notice you have been talking your chancessss down and ssssaying you lot arent bothered in all your commentsssss. I am hoping there issss a 50/50 near your technical box and Holebassss "accidently" sssslides through and takes out the sssssnake.
I have to say, i have never seen so much media attentiom on us before a game. Nobody gave a toss when we beat them 1_0 last year. Quite incredible really. Must be all this reptiian nonsense.
The fans are up for it - Deeney seems to be as usual (hopefully manage to actually win a header or two...) Lets hope the rest of the team are! Could do with a decent performance and result after some sloppy ineffective displays in recent weeks.
The i today reports Silva responding to Deeney's remark saying it is 'strategic, nothing more'. I agree with Deeney, focus on the game rather than dissing/hissing Silva (apart from a minute's hissing before kick-off of course!)
Except Deeney has also said let the players kick the **** out them and that the staff at Everton are great, except the manager. Shame he can't just focus on the game as well.
Well that’s a lot of hate (Just read pages 3 to 9), but it’s fair enough Silva is a horrible little man that should be sent back to Europe under the pretence of preparing for Brexit No idea what an Oxford comma is (I am more mathematically minded than literate) For me I would rather win this than finish 7th , the nice thing is sounds like the club understand how much this means, I welcome the comments from Deeney and Holebas , if we loose it will be much better knowing the team hurt as much as us. Doucoure is back which is good, I think I have underestimated his importance , the last two matches without him have really shown a lack of imagination Deeney to score , Holebas to score , Doucoure to score , Everton to not score 3:0
I'm expecting us to go for some old skool chants like "Silva is a ****a, Silva is a ****a, la, la, la, la, ooh" and "you're just a short greedy *******". If we're winning I would be disappointed if there's not a ten minute rendition of "sacked in the morning"
Which would be more important to you: To beat Everton today or to finish ahead of them in the league at the end of the season?
I don't think we want to win the game any more or any less than any other fixture. It's not a "we don't care about Watford" thing, it's more that we don't care about them any more or any less than most other teams, generally speaking.
Its a bit of an acid test for the season this. Win and we are set up nicely. Lose and play poorly and we will all be down, looking at a gap to 7th wondering if we'll get another 6 points in the season.
I think there's plenty of fans on both side who want to win this a bit more than other games. Probably more on our side than yours but it's there if social media is anything to go by. Can't see the Everton players being bothered but I can see the likes of Holebas and Deeney being fired up for it. All in all it should be a good game, both defences have their weaknesses so hopefully a few goals! 3-2
I was chatting to a few fellas at the services yesterday and there was a bit of bemusement when I told them how badly Watford fans want to win this game. Partly because they'd almost forgotten about all the Silva stuff and partly because they found it incredible that anyone would see beating Everton as a feather in their caps given how poor we are at the moment. I'll be in Spoons on the high street later if anyone fancies a beer, a handshake and some reasonable pisstaking - I'm the bald lad in the black coat who clearly likes a pint too much. If that description fits half of our fans, I'll be the one with the blonde kid with me.
B*ll*cks to that . I’ve been looking forward to this one all season, I’m desperate for us to win, give him some stick and see that Silva sad face look . It’s a shame we’re nit on the best of form at the moment but hopefully the return of Doucoure will make the difference
