Can't have been HB1, he'd have been pushing it to get back to watch Barcelona not win La Liga.

Tough day for HB1. How did Toronto get on?

    A fair summary.

A pasted together defence against such attacking potency was never going to end well,it reminded me of the last GT season in the PL when our players were 3 or 4 levels lower than most of the opposition.

Whilst the "off" chant was funny I had hoped we would act with more dignity towards NW. Having said that the 'Walterlocks and the Three Goalkeepers' decision and not selecting Deeney were just malodorous pieces of bile from the departing coach.

I felt sorry for Doucoure and Gomes,TC too and Okaka kept going with zero support.

Janmaat did look to have strained, pulled a hamstring but Niang? Really M'baye that was a dismal little cameo of appearing injured,Lazarus like recovery, only to mooch off soon after. Probably best to say goodbye.

I stayed to applaud as I think Gomes and five or six others were worthy of that.

Also Gomes pulled off an INCREDIBLE save at one point too. It maybe looked special because I was so far away from it in the LGT near the Rookery side but honestly it looked an absolute certain goal and then Gomes hand just came out of nowhere.

I was right behind it. Aguero smashed it and Gomes somehow got to it and tipped it over. WONDERFUL save.

Maybe it was a final in-joke from Walter in response to people saying he was too negative?
Actually i think we missed a trick. When Gomes was down injured we had them both warming up and we should have brought them both on!

Anyway season over and now we have a clean slate in the managerial department and no doubt will have a semi clean slate with the squad. This seems to be the trend these days anyway and not just at our club. Many club will face the same re-building job this close season.
Some will do a better job than others.. the normal football fortune merry-go-round.

It's also worth noting that it comes to a pretty poor state of affairs when Holebas couldn't achieve his record.

Oh well here's to an interesting summer. One thing's for sure,it won't be dull, unless we take their manager!

Lets face it a training session for City and lucky for it to just be 5, Gomes made 4 or 5 good saves. 0-5 flattered us

    Thank god this seasons over

No-one thought we would get anything against City, but the manner in which we capitulated was horrendous. Why not stick Deeney in as a Centre Half if things were that bad? Play a steady 4-4-2 or 4-5-1. Anyway, it's over. This season has been as bad as it gets bar a catastrophe like getting relegated. Gino has got to get this next appointment right, or we will be back in Championship. Btw I saw in the Express some spurious story about a Russian takeover bid. Is this just balls or is there something in it?
Lastly people mentioning about Silva and his 7-1 beating. All I'll say is, its a good job we weren't playing Spurs or it would have been double figures. City took their foot off the gas massively and ruined my 7-0 at 11/2 (which I put on halftime).

I expected at least 4 goals against given our form and line up but at least 3 of the goals were awful defensive mess ups and good teams won't let you get away with that.

Only Gomes and Doucoure were any good today, although a few others were clearly putting in the effort that alone isn't enough. Even Capoue was closing people down first half. But no system or organisation, was anyone actually coaching this 'team'???

As others have said we need big changes.

I would love Deeney to stay but think that he may have had enough after this shambles of a season.

Problem is how many times we capitulated during the season? I've never seen a Watford team lay down and die so many times in one season.

I think it would have been fun for them both to get stripped off ready to come on. But, there's no fun or enthusiasm in this team. That could be the problem.

I thought it was a disgrace how Citeh eased off in the second half instead of going for double figures. Remember GT against Sunderland?

Was fully expecting a heavy defeat and was halfway through putting a bet of 5 -0 on at 18 /1 when lost my signal in the ground,
Understand the moan about injuries, richard colliding went put Scott duxburry's excellent interview on 5 live gave the impression that change of coach wasn't an issue for us as we keep the staff behind the scenes so maybe we have mostly the same staff in place, certainly the team who do the warm ups is the same as last year.
Doucoure again decent. Okaka did some good stuff too and again contributed much more than Deeney who was anonymous when he came on, thought Janmaat worked hard. amrabat useless as usual.
Not surprised mazzarri didn't clap at the end, Deeney when walking round did give the impression he was definitely staying or leaving.

The guy on screen left used to sit near us when we sat on other side of Rookery in the Championship.

He would spend the whole afternoon swearing and abusing both sets of players , the ref , management or anyone who asked him to sit down .

We used to call him "The Missing Link" for his obvious Cro Magnum qualities.

Age has made him a bit more cuddly than I used to recal him .

My highlight of the day was getting back after a rampant City took us to pieces, to hear people annoyed that we didn't put Deeney at centre back to stop Aguero instead.

    Absolutely priceless.

Well I disagree with most on here and with the (easy to make) comments that will be made by the pundits. With the odd exception I thought we tried hard, but were just outplayed. Considering who we were up against, it is absolutely no surprise at all that our defence - made up with every player out of position, no centre backs when we normally play three, and two young boys, were outplayed. Then, after 30 minutes, it was all about lack of confidence, in the knowledge that we were never going to get anything out of that game.

The real debacle was the previous 37 games of which we produced around 4 or 5 good performances. We missed relegation by one place - that is perilously close, after a season that delivered almost perpetual drivel, poor tactics, poor game management, poor team selection, poor fitness and a Captain who only turned up for half a season (and I'm being generous).

I still maintain that our players, as a group, can be a top-half side and a few additions (like someone who can score goals in this league) would get us nearer the EU qualification - if our next coach can get the best out of the squad in the same way as Howe has out of his Bournemouth squad. They will be finishing this season proud of their achievements, whilst we should be ashamed of our dismal failure. I am absolutely ashamed of how we have played our football.

This summer, unless we bring in a big name coach, it will be even more difficult to bring in better players for obvious reasons. Those on here that have repeatedly said that they have been happy with playing like a team that finished 17th seem to ignore that fact. They should also consider that Bournemouth have earned more money (I believe it is approaching an extra £15m compared with us) by finishing 9th, that completely negates the extra gate money we get by having a ground with twice the capacity. (done in my head, so could be wrong).

So, next season, we may have the same scenario on here. Fans on here hoping, praying, targeting 17th "against" those that believe we should be doing so much better. This season, just another 7 points would have put us in 8th place.

Jeeeeeez, yet another season battling on here with lovers of mediocrity. I am just praying that we get a good coach

My take on the match - would have preferred that Mazzarri was nowhere near the dugout today, and that somebody (anybody!) else had been put in charge just to give the players a lift. Can't help but think this was Gino's punishment to him for a poor season, making him face us one more time when he knew we'd get stuffed.

Agree with some earlier posts - pretty sure Janmaat was genuinely injured but no way in the world was Niang. Talent but no heart and a poor attitude - not sad to see him go.

Two keepers on the bench?? So there were no other youth players to fill that spot?? Walter's final up yours to the club, along with benching Deeney again and then bringing him on at 5 goals down. Noticed that Gomes kept the armband still when he came on - sadly I think Troy is on his way, and if so - what a horrible game to end on. Hope I'm wrong as I think with the right players around him and the right coach/manager, he's still got a lot to offer. Just my opinion of course.

The club absolutely has to get the next appointment right, as we're in a right old mess at the moment - it must be chaos behind the scenes. If it's not Silva then I think it needs to be sombody similar, no more Italian dinosaurs.

I stayed to clap those that put in the effort today (no need to name them as you all know who they are), but was also curious as to what Walter would do. Didn't dissapoint, did he? When you think of the money that's been invested, I believe he's been the worst manager since Bassett.

Here's hoping for so much more next season.

Yeah, It never fails to baffle me when fans don't appreciate a class player and performance. Must be something to do with entertainment, hence why he was clapped off by the vast majority of the crowd.

Did you cheer Niang off then?

  29. Jumbolina

Pretty awful stuff. Just so many times basic passes were either overhit or sliced out of play by various players. If they can't get the basics right I'm starting to think our squad is simply substandard.

City were good. Three baffling selection issues:

    1) Why play Niang? He doesn't want to be here next season and it showed when he subbed himself off.
    2) Why 2 keepers on bench? Ridiculous
    3) Where the hell is Success and why does Amrabat keep getting picked after poor performance after poor performance?

Positives were some youngsters getting some game time and Gomes as usual was good.

Next season looks bleak unless there are widespread changes. We've got some really poor players for this level.

Because we love watching good football? I appreciate players as talented as Aguero and co. It was a pleasure to watch De Bruyne and Silva running the show from midfield.

It was a nothing game as well so made it even easier to enjoy.

If you genuinely got angry at today's performance you need to live a little.. it was borderline hilarious.

One small thing that was a nice touch, Kompany made a special effort to go over to Eleftheriou at the end of the game to give him his shirt. Doesn't have to do that, but Eleftheriou won't ever forget it I bet.

  32. Burnsy

No. Because the two things don't go hand in hand. Niang can clear off. Not before time and another element of an odious chapter in the clubs transfers dealings - see Diamanti/Ibarbo etc. I'm not looking for an exchange of argumentative views - I'm just genuinely confused when fans of one club would actively show support for the opposition.

I didn't get close to anger. I've gone beyond that. See my posts elsewhere that I made today and you'll see that I saw the futileness of today. I appreciate the likes of Aguero et al....when I watch them on TV and against other clubs. To say that you 'love' watching them play good football whilst beating us though is just stupid though. It's like saying you enjoy us losing....

Whatever happens we will start next season better off than we have finished this one
    1. We should have all of our current injured players fit, not withstanding further injuries obtained
    2. A number of players will be off, hopefully replaced by better players
    3. We will have anew manager that players need to impress
    4. The fans will be behind the new set-up
    5. We should start with a home game after the first game away the last two seasons
    6. Trust Gino he has more invested in the project than we do!

  35. Timbers

Real Madrid fans even clapped Ronaldinho off once when he destroyed them playing for Barca. I appreciate good players who give their all, hence why seeing Aguero's goal and all round play was entertaining, not to say I enjoyed it! :)
