Just saying that it was not one of the 10-12 games anyone on here would have probably pencilled in as a "need to win" pre-season.

We maybe should have won it; I was definitely one of the crowd crying out for a change with about 15 minutes to go, as they were possibly there for the taking, but "need to win" I'd say not.

So it's not a bad start to the season.

Optimistic but sensible expectation after these 3 games would have been 4 points: lose at Everon, beat WBA, draw with Soton...so we are 1 point behind, mainly due to missing 2 excellent chances from within the 6-yard box on Sunday.
I think the opening stages of the PL will be a bit of a "cagey" affair all round to say the least.

The inter-forum prediction table is the bible round here. Every jot and tittle. Lesta will see the inter-forum prediction table and adjust their performances accordingly.

This was not exactly my point.

I took TVOR's post as saying that at the start of the season this was one of the 10-12 games that we should have penned in as a "need" to win game. Perhaps I took this out of context and he means that in the reality of the day and the way both teams played, it is a game we should have at least taken to them.

My point was that very few (if any) of us would have seen this game as a need to win at the start as shown by the predictions. The need to wins were the teams around and below where we thought we would end up, and a point was what the vast majority of us would have taken pre-season against a very good 2014/15 Saints side.

    Amen.

You are right I was talking about reality and not pre season predictions, and in reality we could, and possibly should, have won all three of our games so far. As for the pre season predictions, would we have expected Leicester to be Top, of course not, in fact they would be very much one of the teams we would have hoped to beat.

So quite frankly the pre season predictions are not worth considering, lets err on the side of reality, which is we should probably have at least double the points we have managed to get, but we haven't, and that might end up costing us dear when the universe rights itself and the pre season predictions kick in ;)

Whenever the situation arises and an opportunity presents itself for us to have the possibility to win a game, we need to make sure we jolly well take it!

All these stats seem horribly colonial to me.

    Completed crosses - horseradish!

We will be on to MVP soon

I noticed there's a lot of talk about the team lacking a quality winger. Holebas IMO has been very missused throughout his career and would make a really good left winger/ left midfielder his attacking skills are really strong, where as his defensive abilities are nothing to write home about (he's often caught out of position).

He can beat players with his pace and his crossing and shooting are pretty good too, definitely winger material.

You're naive if you think none of those stats are pored over by Watford analysts each game. The game has changed.
