People are being way too harsh on Briggs. For a young player who has shown confidence (bringing the ball out of defence and a great pass to Anya in the build up to Deeney's magnificient goal against Burnley) and who obviously has potential, the amount of vitriol shown by the fans towards him on Saturday was ridiculous. His worst errors were a couple of moments where, instead of crossing the ball with his first touch he obviously was a bit overawed by the occasion and took a touch before crossing. Granted he had a poor game but people writing him off after seeing 3 games of him (at the most) is insane.
Fingers crossed that the defensive effort Barnsley put in won't detract from their efforts against Hull. They'll have gained a great deal of confidence from this result and hopefully can put it to good effect against Tigger City.
Barnsley will be safe by the time they play Hull. They have home games against Charlton and Derby coming up first.
I was under the false assumption (for reasons unknown) that the Tykes were taking on Hull this weekend. Never mind...... Hopefully Big Mick and the carrot crunchers can dent Tigger City's promotion aspirations.
