The beloved golden boy Vydra finally makes his return to the Vic, no doubt to a hero's welcome and to score the winning goal against us - reminding us all what we've been sorely missing up front... No, wait, scrap that - he's not very good any more and can't even get on the pitch for them.
Probably the most accurate write up for a game I've seen this season apart from the score. 1-0 to Burnley. A penalty after Cathcarts face gets in the way of Ashley Barnes elbow. Would love to see us thump them and for them to get relegated so we can stop this ridiculous idea that we should get Dyche back as manager
Must win game. 1-2. Beautiful goal from Pereyra or Deulofeu overcome by 2 headers from set pieces, Mariappa outjumped.
We're better than Burnley at football and to that end we will likely win this football match. But it's a funny old game!! Prediction: Watford 0-4 Burnley Deeney (missed pen 2, sent off 2); Interchangeable Burnley CF (23, 45, 62), Cathcart (og 90+5)
I started writing a match thread, read back what I had written and decided it was too bitter. Suffice to say I hope Burnley get relegated, Dyche with his anti-football gets sacked and Warnock takes over, man, football club and town in perfect harmony. Here is a picture I prepared in preparation for the thread:
Burnley are one of those teams we always seem to do crap against. I have low expectations for this one.
Northern weather. We've lost even before we start unless we get Capoue, Pereyra and Delia some thermals and a snood.
sadly I think there is some truth in this , best thing we could do is put a load of heaters around the pitch , shouldn’t need more than a couple of hundred
The West Watford image on the right is missing the 'local youth' openly smoking weed that I see/smell a couple of times on the walk from the Gade car park to the ground regularly these days.
Hughes likely to miss the game with the game with the ongoing effects of the concussion, Gracia confirms it was an elbow that caused it. This is actually disgraceful. A player got elbowed in the second minute of the game with the ball nowhere near him, causing him to stagger around the pitch like a drunk until he goes off and he can't play the following week and yet there's no comment anywhere in the media/no investigation by the FA. But they bang on and on about a tackle like Capoue's on Zaha earlier in the season when he wasn't even injured!
I presume it was an accidental elbow as no-one has talked about it before or even seen the incident it seems. Then again we won I guess and well whilst Hughes is a decent player and clearly wish him a quick recovery we don't rely on him...
They only showed one replay and it was from quite far away but there did look like a movement from Sakho like a swing of the arm. Are there any precedents for someone accidentally running into someone nowhere near the ball and being concussed? Most accidental injuries occur when there's a high speed collision but there's no intent. Find it extremely hard to believe that Will Hughes jogged directly into the point of Sakho's elbow and pretty much knocked himself out.
I tend to agree but in his defence Sakho appears to play football as if he's consumed 27 pints of Scruttocks 'Old Origable',complete with bits of beak and twig left in. I have seen tots with more co ordination than that man and as I recall his comedy defending was in some part responsible for our 3-0 win v Liverpool under QSF. His hair can't help either!
Well wasn't Sakho the one who for some random reason elbowed a Bournemouth player in the head in the last minute to give the Cherries a late penalty early in the season so who knows what intent there was?! And he is quite a bit unit unlike our Will ! Could hurt quite a bit I guess .
Next week: Hughes retrospectively banned for violent conduct and fined a month's wages for assaulting Sakho's elbow.
Best. Preview. Ever. See Clive and Smudge? This is how the professional writers do it. As for the game it’s going to be a good one I think. They were rather fortune to beat Fulham last week and I don’t really see any real danger from them despite their good form. Watch that comment come back and bite me in the ar$e now. So it’s Gracia’s fun and fluid back to the front fast paced football against Dyche’s boring drab predictable football. I still think we have enough about us, and any chance Pendz getting a start or at least make the bench? 2-1
It will be cold against a tough physical team who can score goals without having any shots on target. Stacked against us.
I just know Michael Oliver will be itching to give Burnley their first penalty in 65 matches. This will be a problem for us. We will need to overcome this in order to win, so the game will be tougher than expected. Burnley have a renewed impetus and with a little help from their friend, it will be a very good match for us to win.
I quite like the town of burnley. Gritty with cheap booze. WFC 0 Burnley 3 Get your booing slacks at the ready folks, it's gonna get ugly.
