They're doing stuff with the servers today: Hi Admin, We've been transferring a few new accounts to the server you're on which have been pushing up the server load. However this will soon finish. We're also going to roll out Cloudlinux on all servers very soon which will smooth out any load issues and give a huge performance increase. If you need any more help, please let me know. Regards,
They also told me that someone must be using too many extension leads and is stealing all the bandwidth!
Yep, it's slow again. This is starting to seriously **** me off now. A rocket has been fired up the hosts backside. It is possible to move the forum to the next level of server which would be a VPS, meaning no more shared servers. The downside is that we'd struggle to cover the costs unless ad cl1cks stayed at their present level, and I don't want to rely on that. Anyway, let's see what our wonderful hosts come up with!
4 times the price! Hosts just came back with this: We plan to reboot the server this evening to install cloudlinux which will resolve these speed issues. We are now sending out a mass mail with more information. So I expect issues throughout the day. Please be aware.
All seems too technical for me. When does the new software come in? Has a date been set? Is that why there is no Vbookie items?
We can never talk about ad figures, it's part of the Terms and conditions at Google. If I told you how much VPS would cost you could get an idea of what the ads could bring in, so I can't I'm afraid. Last year the hosts ran a promo where they doubled any deposit made for hosting, so we jammed all our spare pennies over there and have enough credit for another year and then some. If they actually sort the issues out and we resume the past high speed, then all is well again.
Dear Serial Complainer, We will be rebooting the server your account is hosted on this evening to complete the installation of CloudLinux. We will begin rebooting at midnight UK time, rebooting one server then waiting for it to become active before rebooting the next. Cloudlinux is an operating system built with stability in mind with a technology called Lightweight Virtual Environment (LVE). LVE is simply a kernel technology that allows us to control resources for a group of processes, in our cases each cPanel account will be grouped an isolated from each other. Cloudlinux is a huge benefit to a shared hosting environment as it means no single site can slow down or bring a server offline. Server reboots will be documented in the "Network Issues" section of our client area as each server is rebooted. Be warned night owls.
What they probably mean to say is, "If you site threatens to slow down or bring the server offline this lovely new innovation will suspend it instantly".
I'm an advocate of cloud drinking. By spreading my intake across many different drinks I'm unable to attribute the resulting sickness and hangover to any one individual beverage.:drinking:
Yes, it's p*ss poor again. Hosts have had rockets fired towards them and I think if things don't improve rapidly then we're in a position where we have no choice but to move.
