Steve Coppell will be not using the loan system next season like we have with Foster judging by his comments after the match about such a system. http://www.readingfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10306~1021544,00.html Do you agree its unfair and a platform for the top sides just to build an enlarged squad and then move players all over the place?
I watched the interview with him on the bbc site and what he said about the loan system is complete rubbish.
Why? I actually thought the headline was rubbish and just sour grapes re: Foster's performance today but if you listen he makes a good point. It's a load of crap that the top 4 hoover up any players of promise anywhere and use other clubs as trial destinations. I would support rules being introduced to cap youth signings every season, to make the bigger clubs be more selective about who they sign or to use their academy's more. This would have the knock-on effect of meaning clubs of our size might be able to permanently sign or at least compete for talented youth signings.
Something like the draft system used in American Football would possibly be a good thing, in order to spread the young talent out more evenly.
I do appreciate that pyro, that is why I said something like it! What I meant was to find some sort of system to spread out talent more evenly, I just used the NFL system as analogy
