My laptop touchpad thing just froze, so before rebooting I tried to move the mouse with the arrow keys. No luck, so I tried all combinations of Ctrl, Alt and Shift with the arrow keys. Then something happened that scared the life out of me! This may or may not work on your system but before you try it I accept NO RESPONSIBILITY if you end up with a sore neck. Press Ctrl, Alt and the right ARROW key at the same time. If something very wierd happens try the same combination but use the down arrow key this time. To get back to normal press Ctrl, Alt and up arrow key. Can't wait to try this on the girls at work tomorrow :]]
Just a cheapy built in express chipset thingy. Dell Inspiron lapton. Please, just work for one person and I'll be happy :dismay:
I did that once before by mistake, and i thought i had a virus or something (not doing it again because i fear i'll re-live my panic attack )!
it worked for me, i have done this before by accident but never knew what i pressed! i had to change it back to normal by going through menu, graphic design, rotate
Ctrl Alt Right arrow turns display 90 degrees to the right Ctrl Alt Left arrow turns display 90 degrees to the lefy Ctrl Alt Down arrow turns display 180 degrees I thought it would work on many more PC's than it has. Never mind!
It's either chipset specific or cards with these sorts of options in their driver software override it. I can do it in the card setup but nit via windoze short cuts. Its really for word processing displays and also those new lcds that can rotate.
I know, a flop. I shall leave the forum in disgrace and return sometime tomorrow and hope this thread has dropped to a natural position, never to be seen again :scared1:
Worked wit hthe up and down buttons but not the sideways ones, this is a classic trick played whilst people used computers at school. They go to the printer and you then exploit their screen and watch them get in a tizz when they get back, comical to say the least.
At school they got in some brand new Acorn Achemides computers (going back a but I know) The best trick to play on them was to configure the language to greek or arabic. As it was a command line option it was a real git to get back to English. ....I dont get out much:dismay:
Tried it with my Dell and it worked, nice one will be winding the missus up later, i always tell her not to touch the computer! Any more handy tricks?
Notice how admin hasn't been on to say it worked on the girls at work? A laughing stock on here and now in his own work place as well
I just looked at the other thread and thought god what happened to my attempted humour it wasn't that bad it had to be removed. Then i find it over here. Admin has been playing with those keys again.
Still no word on if it worked on the girls at work:rolleye1: :rolleye1: :rolleye1: :rolleye1: :rolleye1:
Did the rounds at uni in the computer room. Turning screens upside down left and right until we got bored of it!
