We will never "kick on". We don't have the finances vs our peers so we will always be running just to stand still. However it would be negligent to stop running and not to strengthen further this summer given what we have sold/removed form the wage bill. I get the impression that the Pozzos are doing the minimum in Italy with Udinese to just keep them above water in Serie A, which went to the wire last season. If they try that approach here we will very quickly drop through the trapdoor.
Would rather see us enquire about Llorente than Janssen. Spurs potentially looking to sell Llorente Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
Udinese have spent a lot this summer, more than us at around 35m. Think last season was a wake up call. Ideally I think we should be spending another 25-30m on two quality players, probably a centre back and striker. Not that confident it will it will happen though.
Yes he’s good in the air etc. But he reknowned for being a bit of a goal-hanger who doesn’t really work for the team or to create opportunities. Not really sure he suits the way we play.
To be fair, ‘kicking on’ these days means doing what Burnley did and then repeating it time and time again. I really don’t see why we can’t put ourselves in a position to do that if we get a couple of real quality players in the required positions. We have the ability, just not the consistency or identity in our play.
I wouldn't be surprised if any further signings during this window are relatively low profile. The entire footballing world is aware of the Richarlison transfer, thus every potential selling club knows we're sitting on at least £30m in the bank right now. The Pozzos were happy to fleece Everton over certain knowledge they had, but I doubt they'd let it happen to them. Quality can be found in obscure places and at low prices (numerous examples in our current squad), so I don't think this would necessarily be a bad thing, but whoever we do bring in needs to be all thriller and no filler.
Some utter dross can also be found in obscure places and at low prices (numerous examples in our current squad).
Some utter dross can also be found in well-known places and at extortionate prices (numerous examples in Everton's squad).
I don’t think we will see any movement coming in until the final week now. Until then I think the focus will be on moving on the players not needed. I’m sure (hope) we have targets lined up and deals already done, but can’t pull the trigger until space in the squad becomes available. I personally would be shocked to any more new faces come in before the final week now.
Anyone think West ham's Antonio may be a good idea? West ham willing to entertain offers of £15m. Has been a bit injury prone but is a good player whenever I've seen him play and has prem experience.
Oddly enough he's a bit Meh! Agree though I have seen him turn out decent performances occasionally. What's his best position? RWB or RW We're not too short in those areas
Think it's RW. Admittedly we now have Deulefeu but if they could switch to left and right then could be an option. Still not a striker but does seem to weigh in with goals.
Brazilian midfielder Bernard is available for free after leaving Shakhtar. Left sided winger who can also play No.10 or as striker. Linked with Leicester who have supposedly offered a contract. No sure we need to replace Richarlison but not a bad shout if the club were looking to.
Carried over from the Dendoncker thread.... We aren't mentioned in the article below but I've posted it due to nornironhorn putting his (Kara Mbodji) name forward as a suggestion yesterday (27/7/2019). He's reported to be on the way out too according to VoetbalNieuws.com. However, he looks Turkey bound as first of all Galatasaray were interested before they switched targets and now Bursaspor and Fenerbache look to be in for him. Price? A negotiable €7m. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kara/profil/spieler/141828 http://www.voetbalnieuws.be/news/318201/kara-klaar-voor-vertrek-vraagprijs-rsca-bekend Besides Dendoncker, Teodorczyk and Thelin, the Senegalese defender Kara Mbodji is also explicitly mentioned as one of the leavers at Anderlecht. Galatasaray has been showing interest for a while, but now seems to be hanging out. There is no shortage for Kara, however, for further interest. According to CNN Turk, Galatasaray would have put their sentences back on Benedikt Howedes van Schalke 04. If that transfer succeeds, the club no longer needs an extra defender. This does not have to be bad news for Anderlecht and Kara because Turkish media reported that the defender is also high on the wish list of Bursaspor and Fenerbahce. UPDATE 28/07 Kara will in all probability not take action on Saturday night during the competition opener on Saturday evening in Kortrijk. According to Hubernews, the Senegalese is ready to leave and Bursaspor and Fenerbahce are actually two concrete pistes. According to the medium, Anderlecht would require a transfer fee of around 7 million euros, even though that amount is negotiable.
I'm still sour over Brighton signing Andone. He hasn't played a competitive game yet, let's right this hideous wrong and take him straight off their hands.
It does seem that way, but Udinese have just spent 18 million on a Juventus player, which is huge amount for them.
