I dont know if its true or not but vino is a top cyclist and does not need to take drugs. he had a big crash so perhaps he has been taking stuff to stop the pain and not to cheat. i dont believe he would do it on purpose. Its worth reminding people that vino did not take part last year because a high number of the riders on his team was tested positive but yet vino did nothing wrong but was left without a team as thy had to fold so he could not take part and now this year he has a big crash and very unlucky guy.

I guess you can call him Unlucky for getting caught , Why has the whole team been pulled out if there has been no cheating going on .

The way i see it is his team mates have been using the drugs all tour( not sure what type , probably epo) with a succesful masking agent( so they thought ). Before you know it Vino gets told how clever they have been and how no one has been caught and bang hes at it like a rat up a drain pipe and the greed gets him.

    VINOKOUROV FAILS DOPING TEST
    Tuesday 24th July 2007

Astana have withdrawn from the Tour de France after confirming team leader Alexander Vinokourov failed a doping test following his victory in Saturday's time-trial.

"The anti-doping control on Alexander Vinokourov, which was carried out on July 21 after the time trial in Albi, has tested positive," a team statement read.

"According to the ethical code of the Astana Cycling Team Alexander Vinokourov has been suspended from the team with immediate effect. The rider has asked nevertheless for a B sample analysis.

"Informed by the Astana management, the organisers of the Tour de France invited the team to withdraw, which was immediately accepted."

The statement also confirmed Astana's belief that the Kazakh had tested positive for blood doping.

"There is the presence of a double population of haematids (blood corpuscles), which implies there has been a blood transfusion with homological (the same type of) blood," it added.

If a test on his B sample also proves positive, it will confirm that Vinokourov did indeed undergo a blood transfusion in order to enhance performance.

The president of cycling's world governing body, the UCI, said he could not comment before the result of the backup B sample was known.

"We have a process in place and we have to see this process through," Pat McQuaid said.

Vinokourov, the pre-race favourite, struggled in the Alps following a heavy crash during the first week of the Tour.

The 33-year-old rode then rode into yellow jersey contention by winning the Albi time-trial, but his chance of overall victory was ended on Sunday when he lost almost half-an-hour to race leader Michael Rasmussen on the first day in the Pyrenees.

Vinokourov again responded to win his second stage of the race on Monday, but remained well back in 23rd place in the overall standings when news of his doping indiscretion emerged during Tuesday's rest day.

Astana's decision to pull out of the final week of the Tour ends the participation of Andreas Kloeden and Andrey Kashechkin, who were fifth and eighth overall respectively.
