#WatfordFC are competing with Aston Villa and Bournemouth to sign Tom Heaton for £5m (The Sun).

We could have signed him for free 7 years ago!!

 

A classic if true. Thought Pope and Hart more likely to leave. Bournemouth seemed to have scaled back from their plans to spend 25 million pounds on Butland.

 

Top keeper. Would be pushing hard with Foster for the number one spot. If its only £5m then even better.

 

Slightly (only slightly) short of arse for a top keeper. Good enough for it not to matter if the central defenders are dominant in the air. But ours are not.

 

Can't believe this could happen due to the embarrassment HB1 mentions in #1, and he may feel it will be tough to take the #1 spot from Foster (even though Foster was dropped for the cup final ).
Would be a great signing for Muff.

 

The reason he would leave Burnley is because they have plenty of competition for the No.1 spot. Can’t therefore see why he would join us to have the same issue?

 

Possibly ncreased wages. Hart is probably their highest earning keeper so the other two can't be on huge money.

 

I think Hart will move on.

 

Foster was nervy for the last couple of months last season, and Heaton is a minor improvement.

Obviously I'd rather we prioritised a CB and striker (together with perhaps a DM and winger), but if we can also somehow (not sure how) afford to do this as well, then sure.

 

With our defence you can never have enough keepers on the goal line.

 

I think we pulled out of the deal once it became clear that Almunia was willing to join us.
