I dont much about this kid but it seems from the report he was behind after missing pre season. Might be best to see if we can develop him for the rest of the season then get a loan for him next season.

 

He does. I believe the club rate him quite highly. Young lads who are physically big often take longer to develop and fulfill their potential.

 

Only 10 starts and managed 963 league mins so usually got hauled off. It was a disappointing loan spell but the lads only just turned 19 and this was his first season of senior football, it was always going to be a tough experience for him. Hopefully though he's learned a lot from it - hopefully a loan at a lower level (NL probably) for the next 6 months can see him utilise some of what he's learned and gain some confidence with some more goals.

Need to get him back out there as we have missed out on a few days of loan fee already.

 

He's training with the first team. Instead of trying to keep Doncaster up he's come back to fire the 'Orns to safety.

 

A Doncaster poster on Twitter did a 'banter years' thread on them for this season the other day - it was pretty good/compelling, although crazily enough it had a tweet that mentioned Dahlberg in terms of signing a goalie who has never cracked a smile in his life, but not one that mentioned he was recalled from them sitting 24th in the table with 16 points to be sent straight back out to the team sitting just one place above them in 23rd place with 18 points.

I don't think Cukur was mentioned.

 

I suspect he might need a spell in the weight room before trying out the lower leagues again.

Didn’t someone say he is off to besiktas this summer on a free?

 

There have been rumours about him going there in the Turkish media, don't know how long there is on his contract though

 

Expires at the end of the season, although we have an option to extend for another year if we want to.

 

We'll release him, he'll score a few for Turkey, sign for Besiktas, bang in 30 next season, sign for Palace, score loads more, play us in the cup (we'll be in League One by then) and he'll score the goal to knock us out.

 

You missed out the bit where him and Hughes celebrate by going over to the cameras to unveil a 'we never liked Elton John anyway' message under their shirts.

What has he done to warrant a call from the International setup?

 

I'm assuming he's looked decent for their U21s so they've put him in the senior squad to have a closer look at him. I doubt he'll play any meaningful minutes.

 

According to this Besiktas have agreed terms with Cukur and offered us €500k but we want €1m.

Didn’t come on last night - even though they were playing the Faroe Islands at home. You’d have thought if they called him up to take a look at him, last night was the time to do that.

They clearly had a look at him in training and thought that the Faroe Islands were a bit too tough for him.

 

€1m would probably pay for a year of Cyrus Christie, so it's a yes from me.

 

Turkey are playing Lithuania twice & Luxembourg (who beat Lithuania 2-0 yesterday!) in the next 9 days. I'd imagine a bit of squad rotation will take place and he'll get minutes at some point, dud or otherwise.

 

I'm torn on this - he didn't have a great time at Doncaster and was very obviously out of his depth. But he was also 18 and playing senior football for the first time, that's a tough ask being parachuted into a decent standard of football at such a young age. If he used that as a learning experience, I think a loan to a more appropriate league (I think a National League loan would be a good idea for this season) would serve him well. We complain when the big boys take our academy players for nothing so would seem a bit counter productive to now encourage a sale after one poor loan spell (although the fee isn't terrible for someone that is relatively unproven).

It's a tough call to make!

 

Agree and I do know that he is well thought of within the club. Also, as I have posted before, I personally think it takes physically big players longer to mature, develop and get their game together.

 

Ross Jenkins being a classic case in point.
